Mark and crew did tiling/sump pump work for us a year ago this past spring. I gave him an "A" review then, but wanted to provide an update...our property is lakefront in the Fox Lake area, and one week out of record flooding I am happy to say that we stayed tight and dry the entire time! Mark from ABD arrived on time and completed the work quickly The week before the cracks were leaking like a faucet. He repaired the leaks and we have not seen any water since. So I would recommend him for anyone needing this service.

They dug down to the footer, cleaned the wall and applied Tremco brand liquid membrane to the outside from the bottom of the footer to the top of the foundation. When they got to the bottom of the foundation they found the drain tile to be installed about 7" above the footer (we live in what was originally an 80 year old barn so nothing is standard construction here), and needed some extra material to deal with this problem. I offered to pay for the extra cost (they did not ask) so the finished price came in at $50 over the original estimate. Now for the first time in years our basement is dry.

ABD Waterproofing responded to my appointment request very quickly and provided a confirmation for the date and exact time they would arrive. They were right on time for the appointment and they took the time to inspect my basement and explain which items needed repair and which items did not need repair. They explained the procedure they would be using and provided a quick quote and time estimate to make the repairs. Within a few hours they had completed the work. I was very satisfied with the experience and would definitely call them again if similar work is needed in the future.

We had a little drip in the basement during a major storm. Called ABD based on the reviews. Mark showed up that day and did a great job. Found a spot that needed sealing near the dryer vent. Fixed it on the spot! Fast, and very professional! They'll get my business again.

All contact with this company was courteous and professional. They came when they said they would, explained all the details, happily answered questions, and even gave some advice for other things we could do to keep our basement dry (some that we could do ourselves, and some that were possibilities for hiring them again). Also, they were especially busy with all the flooding last spring, and they were able to respond several weeks faster than all the other companies we called. I was very pleased with the service and would definitely hire them again.

I don't know whether he is unethical or scatter-brained. I don't have an opinion on the job itself yet but I didn't like the business aspect. The original estimate to do the work was half of what he charged me to do the work and the next time he provided a verbal estimate and the cost was higher and the last time I actually had the estimate in writing and he wrote up the bill for more than the estimate until I showed him how much he told me it was going to cost. So one overlook is one thing, 2 overlooks, forget it and 3 you got to be kidding me. I had cracks in my foundation. Originally he agreed to take out the paneling and fill the cracks as well as anything that we discovered when the paneling was down. They did that at twice the price and half of the job. He agreed t come back once I got the paneling down by someone else. It was so many visits and so horrible, so it was a bad deal all around.

coming from, and also identified a crack at another place in the wall
which was not a problem now, but could possibly be in the future. He
gave us estimates based on doing only one, or both. We decided to just
fix the problem area, and he returned a couple of days later and sealed
up the problem crack. We had a huge storm a few days later which would
have sent a stream of water into the basement, but it stayed totally dry

The work was completed and they cleaned up the area well. The next day we had a significant rain and there was still some seepage coming in from under the cellar door. They returned the next day and found a small hole in the cellar door frame where the water was running in. They did a repair in that area for no charge and this corrected the problem. ABD was professional and were able to do the repair quickly so we could complete the sale of the home. I would definately use them again in the future.

We were very happy with the crack filling. With major rains recently, we were able to tell that ABD did a great job. We had one tricky area of seepage behind the electrical box. No waterproofing contractors were willing to guarantee the work behind the box without the difficult and pricey process of removing and reinstalling the box. Some minor leaking occurred there during a few recent rains. Mark came back out to do some extra work around the electrical box without any additional charge.

We are quite happy with Orin and ABD Waterproofing. The overall process took less than 15 days from estimate to completion. We recieved three bids for the work. ABD was the most prompt, punctual and personal when scheduling. Their pricing was also fair. The work started on-time and they actually finished a day ahead of schedule. We have no complaints and would recommend them as well as use them again.

Everything went very well. He gave me a quote, and I let him know I was getting two other estimates. I was down working in the basement at the time, and he said that he could do it that day for $30 less. I would have expected that he would give me his bottom quote first, but he did a very nice job, and was a very nice person. I would have liked to have gotten other bids, but I would certainly consider using him again.

The repair was completed quickly and with as little disruption to the household as possible. Orrin arrived the morning of the day promised, excavated to the bottom of the wall, sealed the crack and refilled the excavation by the end of the day. The disruption to the yard was minimal, and the work area cleaned up and returned to its original condition at the end of the work. While the wall was uncovered, he found and pointed out what may be a large problem with our foundation, and advised us on steps forward. Orrin's manner was open and professional. It was a pleasure dealing with him. The cost was reasonable for the amount of work performed.

Overall the experience was satisfying. Commitments they made were kept. On the second day they worked quickly and efficiently. They were conscientious and considerate. Other challenges surfaced as they were doing the job and they worked through them without a problem, with the costs remaining reasonable. My husband and I are satisfied with the work they performed and we would recommend them to others.

When I called Orrin with ABD, he was the only one who committed promptly to coming out the next day after I got off work when I could fit him into my schedule. He arrived promptly the following day in the dark, with a flashlight and in the rain to assess the issue. He recommended a patch along the foundation and overlay of the first layer of bricks/mortar as he located a few areas with holes/missing mortar. I clearly indicated to him from the beginning that I was looking for any shortcuts in $$ without sacrificing solution. He suggested that if I wanted to, I could cut a 1 ft section of drywall from inside the house in the affected area to see if I could spot any additional cracks to avoid the cost of him doing it and to verify there was no mold at the least. Well it turned out that we found a crack the previous homeowner had patched with tar and a ft of mold on the back of the drywall. Two things that I needed to find and resolve at his suggestion. He then modified his repairs and ended up costing me less than the original quote with more and better results than originally anticipated. Orrin was very polite, knowledgeable, and full of various alternative suggestions based on my questions and needs. I felt at ease since he did not pressure, rush the situation and listened to everything I had concern with and had to say. I will definitely use him again in the future.

Called and got an appointment within one week. John was punctual. In addition to the area I wanted sealed, he suggested I seal a crack that would likely leak at some point in the future. I agreed. He suggested I call right away to get on the repair schedule because my job was small and would be done in between other bigger jobs. Orrin came out a week later and did the work. Only took about 2 hours.

We had a couple cracks filled and sealed about five years ago and have not had any water come through them since. We recently were getting water seeping in from three newer foundation cracks and called ABD Waterproofing to come out again. Orrin came out and inspected the foundation. I exposed two of the cracks from the inside before they came and they dug down next to the foundation on the outside to expose the third crack. All three cracks were filled and sealed. The work was done quickly and neatly. We have not had any water issues since, even with the recent bout of severe weather.
