This year was the first time we used the AC. We noticed that it did not seem to cool the 2nd floor. The unit ran nearly constantly and the coolest it got was ~80F. I was afraid we were going to ruin something because of the constant use. They agreed to come over for free (per Richard "Dick") because they already had notes that they needed to double check the refrigerant level from the original installation. So they came over the same day or the next (writing 5 mon after). It was well within the time I consider reasonable. No complaints there. Indeed there are no complaints with them save one thing. They said they would come for free and I got charged ~$30 for a new air filter. The technician did not ask my wife (who was there at the time of service) if we wanted the new filter. He looked at it and decided on his own to change it. I caught up to the tech (I know him as a personal acquaintance) and asked him if the filter really needed changing as the whole HVAC system was only 7mon old at the time of sevice. He grimmised a bit, shrugged his shoulders and admitted it was marginal. His words, "It could have gone longer, but I changed it while I was up there so that you done have to worry about it." OK that was nice, but $30 for a filter?? I could have bought a filter for half that and done it myself with the change of seasons (when I usually change the airfilters). I thought it was wrong for Mike to charge me for a premuim filter that was not yet ready to be changed and do it without asking me. I was not ready to send them $30 for a call I agreed to for free. They did add a bit of coolant and made the required adjustments to make the system cool the 2nd floor. It worked well all summer.
Description of Work: This was a follow-up check for a previous HVAC installation. (They installed a complete HVAC system in Sep/Oct 2010. I should write a report on that service in a seperate representation.)
