"We are sorry that our client was disappointed with our services. After checking our records, the client consigned two small tables to our July 21, 2013 auction. The tables were estimated to sell in the $80-100 range. Auctions are not always predictable and these tables sold for $40 which was less than our estimated range. We are typically within our estimate range approximately 65%-70% of the time with the remaining items selling for more or less than our estimate. As much was we try to be as accurate as possible, items do not always sell at auction for their estimated value. We feel that the items were accurately represented and photographed well (please see the catalog listing at [hyperlink removed]). We have not heard directly from the client but welcome all feedback as we always strive to improve our service."
Three items were worth selling and Ms. Hahn gave me a range as to what the starting bid would be.
Their auction for the month was full so my items were listed in the June 21st sale. All items sold. Their commission was about 45.00 for all items. Will receive check in mail from them (pending).
The only and quot;negativeand quot; was that the comic books were not listed on the website as signed by all four artists and came with a certificate. I believe this would have garnered more interest. Also, they were listed as and quot;good condition, when these items were in original packaging and in pristine condition.
However, I was unable to sell the other 2 pieces on EBay and was almost going to donate them. Had I done so,
I would have been out 170.00! Another auction house asked for 50% commission on the Adee Dodge original.
It was a pleasant experience. I noticed that all guests who arrived to receive free appraisals were all treated with
respect, whether their goods were of value or not. Note: Their free appraisals are verbal, not written and they cannot accept vintage liquor or wine. It's a great alternative to sell items that are too large to wager on EBay. Perhaps It's a safer venue than going through Craigslist, where potential buyers come to your private home. .I would definitely sell through Leonard's Auction again. Time permitting Iwould love to attend one of their auctions-they are described as quite fun (via Yelp)
