I was first to place bids on two items a few hours before the start of the auction. I couldn't "attend" the on-line, live auction, so I made two absentee $100 maximum bids on the items. When I checked later, I found that my bids did not win; rather, the items were sold to someone else for $100 each?! Apparently, no one bid higher than me, and I was first to bid, so why didn't I win? I will never deal with this on-line auction house again!

John was extremely professional, punctual and quite accurate in his appraisal. He personally wrapped up the paperweight collection (hundreds of glass paperweights) in very short order. His staff kept me in the loop throughout the process and I was given access to the live auction through two websites. Listening to the auction was an enlightening experience and fun, although it took hours for the entire auction to be completed. I was quite happy with the results and the overall professionalism of Leonard Auction. Their 10% seller's commission was extremely reasonable considering everything that was done on my behalf. They definitely aim to please and I'd highly recommend Leonard Auction to anyone.

I consigned the coin collection to Leonard Auction.  They provided the date and time the coins would be auctioned, the commission fee structure (very fair in my opinion) and an invitation to attend the auction.  I was able to track the sale on their website and was extremely pleased with the auction results.  Everything sold at or above the appraised estimate.  Highly recommend this company.

I needed an on-site appraisal of old books and media. Leonard was the utmost professional in all aspects. I was very happy with the results and would recommend and use Leonard Auctions again.

Theirs is a service business.  Apparently they do not grasp the concept of "service".  I have many antiques, china, silver, prints, and a few pieces of antique furniture to sell.  They refused to meet with me unless I sent them photographs of the items I want to sell.  Folks, do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere else.  John Lansing
Response from Leonard Auction Inc

"We apologize that we were unable to schedule an appointment for this potential client. We received hundreds of requests for evaluations each month and are not able to view all items in person. We always ask for a few photographs of items clients are wishing to ensure that the items are appropriate for auction and if so, that we may send the correct expert out to look at the items. The client declined to send photographs and we regrettably were not able to schedule an appointment."

I contacted Leonard Auction about some items I wanted to sell. They told me to take pictures of the items and to e-mail them. I called them a couple of days after I sent the e-mail and the woman who answered told me that they would be interested in some of the items. I asked her about the china that I wished to sell and she told me that and quot;Johnand quot; said it was worth $150.00. I asked her if that was for one place setting. They were aware that I had place settings for 12. She told me that she would get back to me. After a couple of days I called again to ask if they had the prices for the 12 place settings along with a serving platter. and I was told that she would find out from and quot;Johnand quot;. I had done some research and I knew that one place setting alone goes for close to $200.
When she called me back she said that the $150.00 figure that she quoted was for all 12 place settings. I then asked her about the other items that I had and those prices were also really low according to my research.
I know that Leonard Auction's had some good reviews and that is why I contacted them. They must be for people interested in buying and not selling.
Response from Leonard Auction Inc

"We thank [member name removed] for her feedback. We offer a free auction estimate before consigning items to our sales. This estimate is to provide potential clients with an idea of what we feel their items will sell for at auction. As auction results vary greatly, we like to provide as much information to our clients before they decide to sell at auction. In this case, the client had a very nice set of china that they wished to sell. As nice of a set as we felt it was, in the current auction market china services have been doing very poorly and the price garnered at auction is often far less than the expected value. [member name removed] was not happy with our estimates and while we are sorry that the estimates were not in line her expectations we would much prefer to provide the information up front so that the client does not have a disappointing auction sale. We wish [member name removed] the best in selling her china set and recommend trying [hyperlink removed] or [hyperlink removed] as possible sale venues."

"We are sorry that our client was disappointed with our services. After checking our records, the client consigned two small tables to our July 21, 2013 auction. The tables were estimated to sell in the $80-100 range. Auctions are not always predictable and these tables sold for $40 which was less than our estimated range. We are typically within our estimate range approximately 65%-70% of the time with the remaining items selling for more or less than our estimate. As much was we try to be as accurate as possible, items do not always sell at auction for their estimated value. We feel that the items were accurately represented and photographed well (please see the catalog listing at [hyperlink removed]). We have not heard directly from the client but welcome all feedback as we always strive to improve our service."

Almost all of the items sold. John was prompt in answering questions because this was our first auction. We were very happy with the results.

I brought in 5/6 items for their free appraisal May 9th, 2013. Ann Hahn was helpful in going over each piece.
Three items were worth selling and Ms. Hahn gave me a range as to what the starting bid would be.
Their auction for the month was full so my items were listed in the June 21st sale. All items sold. Their commission was about 45.00 for all items. Will receive check in mail from them (pending).
The only and quot;negativeand quot; was that the comic books were not listed on the website as signed by all four artists and came with a certificate. I believe this would have garnered more interest. Also, they were listed as and quot;good condition, when these items were in original packaging and in pristine condition.
However, I was unable to sell the other 2 pieces on EBay and was almost going to donate them. Had I done so,
I would have been out 170.00! Another auction house asked for 50% commission on the Adee Dodge original.
It was a pleasant experience. I noticed that all guests who arrived to receive free appraisals were all treated with
respect, whether their goods were of value or not. Note: Their free appraisals are verbal, not written and they cannot accept vintage liquor or wine. It's a great alternative to sell items that are too large to wager on EBay. Perhaps It's a safer venue than going through Craigslist, where potential buyers come to your private home. .I would definitely sell through Leonard's Auction again. Time permitting Iwould love to attend one of their auctions-they are described as quite fun (via Yelp)

It went well. They provided an accurate estimate and did thorough work. They charged less than other auction houses as well.
