 + 0 moreWe were extremely impressed with the quality of the work that Gray-Kemp did on our bookcases. They always arrived on time, whether it was for the original estimate, the measuring procedure, or the installation. The overall appearance of the finished bookcase was flawless. It fit against the wall exactly, which was due to the careful measurements taken as well as the expert installation. During the installation, openings were precisely cut into the back of the bookcase to provide access to electrical outlets, a detail which we much appreciated. Russ Kemp, one of the partners, came to help as the bookcase was installed. He also was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was very interested in making sure that we were completely happy with the company's work. We couldn't be happier with the bookcase, and strongly recommend this company to anyone looking for honest, high-quality custom woodworking. They also make furniture and all types of cabinets.
Description of Work: Gray-Kemp WoodWorks made custom-built bookcases for a U-shaped nook in our living room area. Dan Gray came out to our house for the estimate. He was friendly, but very professional as he talked about which types of wood they had available for the bookcases. He would have used any wood we chose, but he explained that by using less expensive wood for the parts of the bookcase that would not be visible, and then more expensive wood for the fronts of the shelves and top of the bookcase, we could save quite a bit of money. As this was definitely a consideration, we chose that option. We chose 1-inch thick plywood with an oak veneer for the shelves, along with a cherry edge to each shelf to match the cherry countertop. Dan also added small crown moulding with a sculpted edge to provide a finished look around the top of the bookcase. Someone from the company came out to take exact measurements. The work was done at their facility, then brought to our house for the final installation.
