"Hello Nichole, Thank you for your feedback and kind words, regarding your 2018 installation. We do want to point out that your original failed installation was installed by another glass shop, not by Creative Mirror & Shower. Even though this was 3 days before Thanksgiving, and we were booked solid with holiday commitments, we found a way to get this done for you! Honestly, our management team looked at your photos that Gramos brought back to us and we feared for your family's safety. For the most part, we do not service shower doors installed by others as there are often many structural issues that can often require new remodeling work first, which is exactly why you have existing holes from the improper install done by the other glass shop. The reason the door swings out only is that it will now have more "positive closure" against the "seal" to defend against leakage, as compared to seal failure that often occurs with a swing in/swing out shower doors causing friction that rubs the seal off the glass. You now have a much more advanced hinge design which is German Engineered Hardware, and it is much "stronger", just as you explained. We apologize that we were not up to our normal 5-star sales communication as our sales team was totally booked a few days before Thanksgiving. Instead of turning you down, we sent an experienced team member to assess, but not one of our normal sales team veterans. We normally explain that when we remove existing hardware and glass, we do our best to remove as much of the old silicone off as practical, but there will almost always be some potential impairment of the walls. Repeated cleanings beyond our normal scope of work can help, and sometimes even professional restoration/repair of marble, granite, tile, is needed. We spent a lot of time working to remove the existing silicone from your original shower door install off the walls, and then left the brand new package of our glass shop razor blades for further efforts, as they are better than home center razor blades. Perhaps not well communicated, but well-intended! It is always best to do the removal of the existing shower door as the first step (not on the same day as the final install), both to get accurate measurements and to provide time for any more detailed wall cleaning or wall repair if required ahead of the install. Please know that we care a lot! This is why our Installation Manager went on-site personally the day before Thanksgiving to help get your removal done when all our installers were booked solid well beyond Thanksgiving. We do very much appreciate your feedback and we will reach out to you privately to see if there is anything else we can do for you!"
"Dear David, We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. Please know that we removed the old shower doors first as a crucially important step to give you a better long term installation. We appreciate your feedback, and we are sorry that there was a miscommunication. Our sales rep thought you wanted to get both new custom frame less shower doors done at once which is often requested to minimize install trips. We sincerely apologize that this created an inconvenience for you, and if there is anything you need from us, please let us know. To our HomeAdvisor Community, please note the following: REMOVING OLD SHOWER DOORS: On this job, existing old shower doors had to be removed to install new custom frame less shower doors. Creative Mirror & Shower is very focused on doing what is right for the customer and not taking short cuts. Many glass shops and handymen will remove an old shower door and install the new one on the same day, as this saves the installer time, and keeps the shower door from going out of use. Based on 47 yearsÂ’ experience, and over 200,000 installs, we know that removal and reinstall on the same day will shorten the useful life of the new shower door considerably. Removing the old silicone takes considerable time and solvents used in that process must dry entirely for new silicone to bond the new shower door properly. Plus, the installer can get more precise measurements when the existing shower door is removed, as well as evaluate site conditions which can affect glass production. This is why it is important to remove an older shower door in advance of the measuring and subsequent custom glass production to ensure the job is done properly for the customer. LEAD TIME: We would like to point out in reply to this review that this job required custom frame less glass. When custom shower doors are being produced, the lead time is typically around ten business days from the field measure, which allows time to address any tile or wall issues that might arise when removing an older shower door such as loose tiles or missing grout. For different types of openings such as standard tubs or showers, we do have in stock solutions that can be installed virtually the next day. QUALITY: The extra quality factors that we put into both the installation and product features such as German Engineered Hardware, Marquis Clearshield Glass Protection, and other important details do take some extra time. In fact, on this job, there were molded shower bases installed years ago, which are vulnerable to leaking when frame less shower doors are installed over them due to lack of an inward pitched threshold. We were able to solve that problem on this job by using a special engineered hardware solution, not available elsewhere, that enables frame less shower doors to work properly on the older molded shower bases. The extra quality factors that we put into both the installation and product features may add a little lead time, but the payoff is measured in years and even decades with a beautiful, long-lasting, frame less shower door!"
