Poor quality. Installed poor quality material with damaged pieces. Made mistakes and had to come back twice and waited months for them to come back each time to correct their mistakes and finally complete. Their customer service person is horrible. It took incredible efforts to have them fix issues with their product. Service person's sole purpose was to either frustrate me to the point where I would quit trying or save the company money by preventing them to have to come back even if it was their mistakes that needed fixing. I stuck with it and spoke to management a few times before it was finally resolved. Worst experience I have ever had with a company. I deal with many service providers because I manage 7 rentals in addition to my own home and office.

I should have known the work was going to be shoddy as soon as the sales person pushed us to close 'right now' in order to get a better deal and then continued to negotiate down to a price that I was willing to pay. Sadly, I should have gone to California Closets (we used in the past and their work is WORTH EVERY PENNY). First the measurements were off (see photos) and I had to argue with them (when the account manager FINALLY took my call, left a week worth of messages) to get the drawers the size they needed to be (they planned on adding a fake panel to make it work.. ?!?!?!) . finally the Cabinet was complete & looks nice from far away (see pic) but if you look at the detail the pieces are not flush, the material is crappy (edges are glued on and sticky residue shows on the corners) and it looks like they took a marker to color in where there were scratches. Bottom line is DO NOT use Closet by Design EVER.

My wife ordered shelving for a small pantry 4 months and 28 days ago and still don't have a completed pantry. They wait 2 months to give you an appointment to install. That includes when they make a mistake and have to come back. We ordered in March, they came to install in May. They made a mistake and had to come back. We paid extra to have them cut dividers to fit a change in depth in my back wall. They don't custom build the dividers at the shop like the other parts. They were hand cut at my home. The cuts are rough and unfinished, not at all like anything in the website or catalogs. It looked very messy like I installed and cut it with a handsaw, so my wife said forget it. She ordered a backboard creating a flat back wall so they would not have to cut to follow the change in depth. My wife had to call and follow up because they were not calling to schedule a return visit to fix their mistake and finish the installation. Like the other review, they had filed our pantry as complete. Even after these 2 mistakes, they didn't schedule to return for another month and a half. They didn't install the shelving with the dividers correctly back in May. Too short to fit what we had planned to put in the dividers so they needed to redo that entire section because they don't bring extra parts. It was mid July when they finally came back. They did not have the backboard we ordered. My wife asked them repeatedly to have the pantry completed as soon as possible. After 3 mistakes you would think they would try to accommodate us. We didn't even get a call back from Kathy the sales rep or Yvette the customer service provider for days after the error. After several texts, emails and phone calls, it is now August, almost 5 months after the order was placed and still they have not come back to complete the pantry. The pantry parts that they did install back in May also had damaged parts in 3 different areas. After several emails, phone calls and texts, Kathy the sales rep and Yvette the customer service manager are evasive and make no commitment to replace damaged parts and makes no effort to have the pantry installation completed in a timely manner. This company does not stand behind their product or their service. Don't give them your money because you don't know what you will get back.

The work turned out good. They did the job they said they would. I would recommend them. They were forward thinking people as they made a suggestion. There was a problem with the walls and we needed that fixed and then they came after that to do the work.

I received a flyer coupon for their services.  I called and got an appointment with Katy Shannon.  We met in early May and walked through the house to show her what i wanted done.  We received a quote within a day or two.  I thought the quote was kind of high, but a friend said this was in line for the service.  Katy was persistent and kept saying their installation calendar was filling up very quickly.  I figured a month was more than enough time, but alas, it was not.  I went to their showroom and looked at their set up and signed the quote.
One of the closets was housing CDs and DVDs.  Katy drew up a plan which showed 16 shelves in 4 sections and on the opposite wall 10 shelves in 2 sections.  We were told to remove the baseboard and the installer would put back on.  We were told it would take three days.
On the allotted day, Mike and Scott arrived on time.  These guys were great.  Very informative, professional and knowledgeable.  The only problem came when I told the guys where the baseboard that was removed was.  I was told they do not install.  I called Katy and she let the guys know they had to cut down and install.  After that, everything went well.
However after installation, I noticed that while we had the correct amount of shelves in each section, one row was not usable for its intended purpose.  The top row in each section was only about 4 inches tall.  This would not fit CDs or DVDs.  Also, one of the shelves did not go up because I was missing shelf clips.  I contacted Katy who told me there was nothing she could do about the shelves and she mailed me the clips.  I got one clip (as the envelope had a hole in it).  I contacted Katy again and drove out to pick up the shelf clips.
I sent a letter to the managing director of the company explaining that while the job was done, it was not done how drawn out and explained.  A few days after I sent the letter, Katy sent me an email asking what the problem was.  No response from the managing director.  I emailed Katy a copy of the letter which she already knew about. 
I have not heard back so can not say what will happen.  However, I am greatly disappointed.  I will say that I did not sign up for Angie's List until after the job was done.  I have reviewed their reviews and had I seen them before, I might have chosen another company.

Overall this project went very well.
This is the second project that this company has performed for me. 
The designer, Katy Shannon, who arrived at the appointed time and had all the necessary equipment and tools to perform a professional assessment, was well prepared. She had great ideas and was able to create a design that fit my needs. She was patient and personable and revised the design until it was within my budget.
The installer, Ryan, was also excellent. He arrived within the appointed time window and was friendly and very competent. He worked efficiently, quickly and professionally. He had every tool he needed and worked very neatly. Nothing messy about his work and he cleaned up after the installation to remove any excess dust or shavings as if they never existed. He completed the job in a very short time. The closet that I had installed was an unusual size and the final product fit perfectly as if it was part of the original construction.
The price is somewhat negotiable so I recommend that you have a good idea what your project will cost before you call them to create a design.
I was very pleased with my experience and am considering another larger project with this company.

During installation, the installer damaged two of the drawers in one of the closets so new drawers had to be ordered.  In addition, the design layout that was recommended for one of the closets proved to be unsuable (the design would not allow for sufficient space to hang clothing because of the depth of measure). 
We requested a reconfiguration of the affected closet and they switched the layout (basically changed the hanging rod to the other side of the closet) but this simply made the shelving area unusable.  After waiting a few weeks for our replacement drawers to arrive, I contacted the production manager, Josh, to check on the status.  Apparently, our job was shown as complete and had been filed away so no one was even taking action.  Josh assured me he would get the drawers ordered and get them installed as soon as possible along with additional shelving we required.  I explained our situation with the unsuable closet and he said he would have the designer contact us to correct the problem.  After talking with the designer, we were asked to pay another $149 for expanded shelving to allow us to make use of the space.  Reluctantly, I agreed and signed the work order to proceed so I could have closets that were complete. 
Despite my continued follow up with Closets by Design, I still do not have the damaged drawers replaced or the redesigned closet space installed.  I am completely frustrated and would never recommend them to another person to perform work based on their complete lack of follow through and their poor handling of this situation.  Buyer beware....

Salesperson was helpful. Installer was a bit intimidating. Job completed on time. Within eight weeks slide on drawer became bent and drawer jammed.  Over the next nine months three of the four drawers were inoperable due to cheap slides on the drawer itself. I called Closets by Design and was told Josh "Production Manager" would call me back.  Waited a week and no call back. The following week a left three additional messages for Josh and never received a call back. I then called corporate but was told they don't track nor are they interested in independently owned stores service or product control. Good to know. I finally received a phone call back from office manager. Closets by Design offers a "Lifetime Guarantee" for their product. Please be careful with this phony phrase. The Lifetime Guarantee is only good if the company offering it cares about their customers and reputation.

The experience was generally okay. They came out and took the measurements for all of the cabinetry and then had it built. When they came out to install everything they found out that the measurements were off my one inch, so they had to send the drawers and cabinet doors back to be re-ordered. They took the shelving and cut it down. So in the end there was about a week long delay from what they originally told me. The price was the lowest of the estimates that I received.
