 + -1 moreI called to see if they would have a solution for me. The woman who answered the phone hadn't heard of 24 volt batteries, but suggested I bring it in so they could take a look at it. Though it was a long drive, I figured it would be worth it if I could get an alternative to the Internet option with expensive shipping. When I got there, the owner knew exactly what I was talking about and he showed me that they could connect two 12 volt batteries in series. The batteries were $40 each and he said he'd charge about $10 for the labor. It sounded like a good deal to me, so I said he should go ahead. They found the parts to securely create a jumper between the two batteries, then helped me connect it back to my mower to make sure it would work. It did. I the end, he didn't even charge me for the extra work, just the batteries and tax.
Description of Work: The battery on my old rechargeable lawn mower couldn't provide enough juice any more. The model and brand is long ago out of production and there's no official source for replacement parts. The mower uses a 24 volt battery, which is very nonstandard. One Internet site did offer a direct replacement, but the cost, mostly because of shipping, seemed pretty high. I'd read some comments on the Internet about battery specialists connecting two 12 volt batteries to serve as a replacement.
