First of all, Merlin is a class act guy and I would use him over and over if his employees were like him. He did the bid and was with the crew on the first day that they started the job. However, when he took off, it was like his crew wanted to just get the job over with. Some of the walls where they cut holes and blew in insulation had hardly any insulation in them at all when I put my hand in there to feel around. When I pointed this out, they put more in the holes that I pointed out to them.
At 5pm, they took off because their day was over. I didn't get to do a walk through to pass off their work, even though I was simply working next door. When I checked it out, it looked like they literally just stopped at 5. About 1/2 of the plugs for the walls were not put in, the attic had only about 1/2 of the blow in insulation that I paid for. And this is the insulation that I could see! Anything behind the walls will always be a mystery.
I called Merlin and he said that his crew thought that they were done and were not planning on returning. When I told him about not having nearly enough blow in insulation in the attic, he said that he'd make it right and sent the crew back out to finish.
Again, Merlin is a great guy and will make sure that you're happy. I was just really disappointed in the work that was done. When I pay a little more to have a local company do a job, I do this because of the expectation that the quality will be a little bit higher.
I think next time I'll try one of the other companies.
