Funeral Homes
To start off with, let me just say that it was a really bad day. Hours before my grandmother passed away at the local hospital, my uncle had passed away (on the other side of my family) and my cousin had called the family about were to take him. I suggested Colonial and they went and picked him up. When I called about my grandmother on behalf of the family, not only did the person on call come, but Jared (owner) also personally showed up.
Jared met with my family after normal business hours on the start of the weekend to help get everything arranged. She was cremated and we were going to hold the service at a later date in Indiana. Jared help to have everything arranged for the opening and the closing of a grave. When the time came next month to head to Indiana for the service, it was determined that the urn that was picked out was not going to be able to pass through security at the airport (you are not allowed to check human remains, carry on only) so he provided us with a temporary holder that we could use to take the remains through security and onto the plane. Glue was also provided to us to seal the original urn once the remains were placed back into it when we arrived.
The day before the service, Jared had called to make sure we arrived okay and if we needed him for anything. Later my uncle that lived in Indiana said that the cemetery said that the company that was to open and close the grave had not contacted them, I made the call to Jared who took immediate action (from Idaho). Jared also called the day of the burial to make sure that things were going according to what was arranged. He also was able to provide a letter for bereavement leave for some family members since she had actually passed away the month before. He called again after the services to make sure that we didn't need him to do anything else for us at that time.
My mother had picked out / designed the headstone that was wanted. He also handled all of this from Idaho with a company in Indiana. When the headstone was placed, my aunt called from Indiana and said that there were mistakes on the headstone. Once again, Jared came to the rescue and was able to determine with the company what had happened and to fix the problem. The headstone was fixed within a couple of weeks.
It is my opinion that the staff and especially Jared went above and beyond what was required / requested of them. They were very caring and compassionate. I would highly recommend that funeral home to everyone that I know.
