It should be noted that ACE LOCK & KEY, Osburn Idaho, has been under new ownership since approx. early 2011. The previous owner was STEVE. These remarks do not apply to Steve or his company.
The NEW OWNER is named COREY. Corey's a very personable young guy. He completed a locksmith course and bought the business. So far, so good.
However, Corey evidently hasn't learned to not take on lock work that he does not understand or cannot complete.
He did several lock jobs at our residence. Some were straight forward (residential re-keying, and a more complex one - changing cylinders/keys on a Studebaker) Both jobs went well.
Then we asked him to work on a 1940's entry/deadbolt (the type with push buttons within the door ).....that's when the problems began. The problem we reported was the lock had no key; otherwise it was fully functional. He "acted" like he knew what he was doing....took it apart (why?) and said he didn't have a blank with him but did at the "shop" aand would be back the next day.
WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN!!!! He left the passage lock inoperational - only the deadbolt works now.
We have called repeatedly (left messages) and written a letter via post, no response.
Here's the clincher: Our Church has a front door with similar lock: he was called to work on it (we were not involved) and also abandoned that job UNFINISHED. That job was about 2 months ago, no word from Corey.
It's our opinion COREY should find another line of work.

so i got a truck from a smuck that only had one key, went to my OLD family friend and asked to have him make me 2 keys. he did, and it didnt work so i went to him and he looked at the key's closely and found where he made a goof. as soon as he found that he took me and my dad so his work van and started making 2 new once. just like that charged me 7 here my local walmart would of charged me 5 per key i now use one of those key's every time i drive. i've had him make MANY other keys for both the house i reside in and vehicles i drive, this man will not let you down and if he messes up he WILL fix his mistake. and he will give you a honest rate as well.
now i know i'm a family friend but you'll want him as one to if you have any problems with keys lol. o and don't forget to thank him. always a big smile there
