Door Service
Unfortunately, the doors were unusable: the material used (man-made, laminated veneer lumber (LVL))
is so heavy that it isn't compatible with the design, and the doors come
apart due to their own weight. My wife was easily able to lift the
original hardwood doors (which were damaged and needed to be replaced).
The new doors weigh at least three times as much, perhaps four times as
much, and the problem with this is that since they did not use a strong
joint (such as a mortise and tenon joint), the doors literally came
apart in our hands as we attempted to carry them to the living room,
where we planned to install them.
I got the impression, speaking to these gentleman, that they have been
in the business for many years, and have recently subcontracted much of
their work. Sadly, the company they've chosen to use cannot do what I
truly believe they themselves once did.
