"Dear Respectfully Frugal: Kudos to you for only paying a total of $371. for a Uhaul truck and two helpers to help you move from Boise to Moscow. Would you mind showing us the math? How much was the truck? Are you including the fuel in the total? How many hours was your long, long day? It takes about 5 1/2 hours to get from Boise to Moscow and of course you had two guys for the drive, plus the loading and unloading. How much did you pay them? You got a great, great deal. Regarding our rates, you paid us $526. for the Uhaul truck and the labor. The truck with insurance and fuel was approximately $76., so the labor was $450. Dividing that by 15 man hours equals $30 an hour. My original rate that I charged before the discount you I gave you was the regulated rate at the time of $37.74 We are a licensed, bonded and insured moving company. Unfortunately the readers will be unable grasp how much was left to move after your friends helped you (very nice of them) move some items. And how hard we worked. People here know that I work hard, so I am not too concerned about it. Concerning the employees, it is not uncommon for employees to be students who have to go come and go to class in a college town during the school year. February is not a big moving month of the year. In regard to the time, it would have been more efficient had you not used small odd and unequally shaped boxes from the liquor store and had the heavier boxes on the bottom and not the top which we had to restack so the bottom boxes weren't crushed. The, "One piece" was a very heavy armoire wardrobe. Sincere honor to those two guys, and perhaps yourself, for being able to get the oversized armoire up your flight of stairs along with the other heavy items on the second floor of your two bedroom apartment. Speaking of stairs, dollies don't work well on them. When doing the math for us, please let the readers know if you paid them any overtime, for meals, a hotel and their trip back to Boise in that total."
