and they installed it. The finished
product was terrible. The faucet was not
lined up with the drain. But worst of
all, the tub was installed incorrectly.
The tub did not drain correctly and cracked and popped every time I
stepped in the tub. Their response: I
bought a cheap tub. They stated the tub was installed according to
manufacturer's instructions. I couldn't
tell how it was installed until we ripped it out. They offered to replace it at my expense
because they were adamant the tub was installed the correct way. I went through
another company because I did not trust that they could do it right. When we
tore the tub out, we found that indeed it was installed
INCORRECTLY. It stated that the surface had to be flat. The tub was not placed on a flat surface and
that is why the tub cracked and popped every time you would use the tub. The company had since gone out of business in
Boise and the corporate office has yet to call me back on this matter. I am out over $1300 to replace a brand new
tub. Do not use this company you will
regret it!!!!
I had problems with some of the work done within the year after the work was done. The business had closed, although I think that the owner personally felt committed to take care of problems. I am very disappointed when a business I have a guarantee with goes out of business. The owner did eventually respond to my calls and had the problem I was able to report to her taken care of.
"As a registered general contractor in Idaho, we only use licensed electrical contractors to do electrical work. If a fan is going into a place where there is proper wiring and the correct box inside the ceiling to hang the fan from, we can install it for significantly less. When we have to change the wiring to accommodate light and fan; or the fan is heavy and will require extra bracing inside the ceiling to hold the weight, it does cost more. We only hang fans to meet code in Idaho. If my electrician did not explain this to the customer and get their signature and approval of the price before proceeding, then I apologize. I do not know the situation with the previous fan, but it is possible it was just replacing an existing one and no additional work needed to be done. Or it is possible the work was not done by a licensed electrical contractor. Karen Meyer Owner Handyman Connection"
"It is not unusual for a licensed plumber to charge more for snaking a clogged drain; the equipment they use has a cost associated with it; and if someone has used Drano in the drain, the snake often will need to be replaced within a week or so. The going rate in the Treasure Valley for a licensed plumber making a service call is between $85-$125 per hour. But I am confused about this posting; we do evaluation calls after each job is finished; and we ask the customer to rate us on a scale of 1-5. We ask two questions; 1. How would you rate your experience with Handyman Connection; this customer gave us a 5 (highest rating) and the second question Would you recommend us to family and friends. This customer answered Yes. They also said "Greg was a nice guy; they will recommend us" Nothing was said about two drains; or replacing a spray nozzle; there was nothing in our work order details about these items. I am not sure why they did not tell us they were unhappy when we called for the evaluation; we want our customers to be happy and we would have tried to make it right, but based on the responses to our questions, the customer seemed to be fine."
"We realized that the member was unhappy with our service as a result of a regular evaluation call that we do with all customers after a job is complete. Unfortunately we were behind on our follow up calls that month and we did not find out about this for a while. Because we offer a 12 month warranty we were surprised that he had not contacted us as soon as he became concerned. We were able to send someone out to fix the problem and he then gave us an additional work order. The individual that did the original work which so upset with the member that he is no longer associated with Handyman Connection. It is important that I find out when a craftsman that is representing Handyman Connection is not providing the customer service I expect so I can remedy the situation, but I also understand that some customers are hesitant to call and complain. In our last conversation with him he indicated that he was satisfied with the final solution of the problem part; and the new work that was done. Karen Meyer Owner Handyman Connection"
