FARM BUREAU INSURANCE

We own a historic home on that happens to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  I'm also a member of local preservation group which owns two historic buildings in our community, also on the NR.  When we could not get comprehensive coverage for those structures two years ago, Jerry VonBrethorst with Farm Bureau came through for us.  They work hard to find a solution when others don't care.  Last year when I contacted our existing agent on our personal homeowners policy and happened to mention our house was on the NR, I was informed that NR listing would make our home ineligible for coverage and we'd be canceled on renewal!  We'd been with Mutual of Enumclaw for years, with no claims.  We were never asked about register status during those years, nor should it make any difference, but it apparently does to Enumclaw.  Our agent whom we've been with for over 30 years, checked around with other insurers and nobody wanted us.  We contacted Jerry who formerly lived in Weiser and asked if he could help us like they did with our committee buildings.  No problem!  They were happy to insure us with better coverage for only a slightly higher premium!
I applaud Farm Bureau for their willingness to help homeowners, and Jerry for making it happen so painlessly.  He's there when you need him (not to be confused with that other "farm" insurance company!).  Don't know if we'll live long enough to have him as our agent for the next 30 years, but that's our plan!
