Contacted provider on Thursday, and was scheduled appointment for that afternoon. Bid was fair but when asked about just replacing damage panels price was 3/4 of a new door. So tech was pushing a complete door instead of the two damaged panels. Placed order and was told it would take a week or two. When asked about bracing the door to allow for use while parts were ordered, was told that was not a recommended practice. So now my vehicles have to sit out and wife must close door manually leaving access to the garage all day. Kind of funny that they were the ones who worked on the top half of the door and placed a brace on that section. Used in the past on family recommendations both to repair motor and also to replace spring. Will keep them in mind but probably won't be my first choice again.

After I told them that I found a cheaper price in town and in stock that I wouldn't be needing their services, they then proceeded to bill me for a service call. They didn't do anything but tell me it couldn't be fixed and the price of a new door. I will not use them again nor recommend then to friends and family.

Great, they came out; lubricated and adjusted the doors but did not have the correct springs on the truck. They returned and replaced both springs. No extra services charges were added. I then called to have my garage door at my other house work on. They made the appointment, showed up on time and completed quickly with no hassles.

The door had been giving me trouble for months. One of the rollers fell out over the weekend, so it finally stopped working altogether. I called Russ's, thinking I'd need to replace the door, but the man they sent to check it out said he thought they could repair it. I was at work, so told them to go ahead. They stayed in contact with me all the way through the repairs, and when I got home the door was working better than it had for years. The folks at Russ's are great, and I'd call them again in a minute.

They sent a Tech in a very timely manner, The Tech was able to see the damage and able to make notes as to the repair. The tech had me sign a paper that I believed to be an acknowledgment that he came and did what I needed. Today I receive an Invoice in the mail for $112.00 for a service call along with the requested estimate. It clearly states that their labor rate is $75.00 per hour and that the Tech was on task for 1.5 hours. The Tech was in my building for no more than 15-20 min. Upon calling to inquire about the Service Charge the Lady who answered the phone tells me that it is for travel time incurred to pull a tech off of a job 50 miles away to respond to my "emergency call". I informed her that I was clear on the phone when I called that it was simply a call for an estimate and that the word emergency was not used in my call. After that she indignantly informed me that emergency or not it was not their Policy to provide quotes for repair because that is all they would get done all day is run around and write quotes for work that never gets done. She also said that in her 20 years of being in the service industry she has never offered to give free quotes for work or repairs. I am now informed that my only option is to have them do the $1154.00 repair and they will credit the service charge to the repair. I found their professionalism to be non existent, I could hear another person in the background yelling things at her about what " I thought" and "how can I expect them to do free work" though the entire call. I was told to feel free not to pay and they would be happy to "send me to collections" As a side note, I had another service provider offer to give a free quote, He told me that the damage was enough to make the repair cost prohibitive do to the fact that he could replace the entire door for $1500. I told him that I was going to give the original installer the chance as a professional courtesy. Unfortunately I did not find Professionalism or courtesy in my interaction with Russ's Overhead Door.

My husband called for an estimate on getting the broken spring on our garage door fixed. They did not give out an estimate over the phone like the two other companies my husband talked to, but wanted to see the garage door first. When the worker called me to verify a time he spoke as if he was coming to fix the door. I specifically stated that he was welcome to come give me an estimate. He showed up a short time later. As I answered the door he exhaled smoke into my face (strike 1). I showed him the door and he got a ladder and started taking measurements. When he got down I asked him what he estimated the project to be. He said this was a service call and that they don't give estimates--that it is impossible to know how long the job will take but it would be somewhere between 1 1/2 hours and 2 hours. I stated that my husband had clearly asked for ONLY an estimate and if he liked I could call and speak with his boss. After much reluctance he finally calls the secretary and asks how to fill out the paper for an estimate. He finally comes up with the springs costing $129 and the labor estimated at 1-2 hours so a total of $220, but it was not guaranteed. He left, slightly irritated, and we did not call them to do the work. Instead, we called Discount Doors Company who had given us a fixed quote of $149 over the phone and we were completely happy with their service. By the way the DDC employee did the work in about 20 minutes.
