Early Bird Sprinklers

I had a valve box spraying water in the air so I called them. They sent a tech out quickly and he took a look. I turned on the water for just a few seconds and he told me "you want the good news or the bad news? I said bad news. He said the manifold was shot and he would need to build a new one. He called it the "Home Depot" of manifolds and he needed to replace all of it. I was quoted $125.00 for parts and $60.00 per hour of labor and it could go over 1 hour. I told him I was not interested in building a new one and told him no thanks. I was told at this point it was $60.00 regardless of whther he did work or not. I had a couple small things to repair so I told him to do those minimal items and leave.I was charged $73.00 for a couple minor repairs.I dissasembled the problem area and found a $5.00 fitting was broken. Total time invested was less than 20 minutes to repair it myself. The manifold had zero damage, it was a fitting connected to the valve. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! It's like going to a mechanic and getting a rediculous quote for repairs you don't need.
