"I am sorry you are unhappy with the project. As we discussed the concrete walkway sunk about 3/8 of an inch next to the garage. That cracked the resurfacing along the edge and because of the sinking the under lying concrete cracked which results in the resurfacing cracking. Even thou sinking and cracking of the underlying concrete caused the problems, we repaired it for FREE not $700?"
Removal of the section of the back patio to be replaced required saw cutting of the concrete and providing temporary support of the patio roof above the supports where the concrete was to be replaced. The work crew and I discussed the saw cutting prior to the work, and accomplished it as I desired. The temporary support of the patio roof was accomplished with minimal impact on the existing patio roof support structure. Breaking up of the existing concrete to be replaced was accomplished using a jackhammer and sledge hammers. The crew was able to provide the existing patio dimensions even though access was somewhat difficult due to the bushes that had grown up since the original patio placement. A crushed rock base was placed prior to the concrete placement. A motorized concrete "hauler" was used to transport the concrete from the delivery truck to the back patio. That worked effectively even though some awkward maneuvering of the hauler was required. An additional 8 to 10 inches of concrete was placed beneath the spots where the patio roof supports were to be reinstalled.
The existing driveway concrete was broken up for removal mostly by jackhammer, but with some sledge hammer use. The new driveway was formed to the same dimensions as the original, and with minimal impact on the existing lawn and sprinkler systems. I was easily able to replace removed sod and sprinklers. A crushed rock base was placed prior to concrete placement. The new concrete was placed in 3 segments--the driveway left side, the driveway right side and the sidewalk/street approach. The work crew was knowledgeable in the special requirements of the city of Idaho Falls for the sidewalk and street approach. There were no difficulties with the inspection required.
The contractor was thorough in removal and disposal of all construction debris. The final concrete surface finish has a slight repetitive "swirl" that we consider attractive. The work crew was on site and working every day and were punctual. I did provide access to a bathroom in our basement for their use. They were careful in their use. The construction time for back patio and driveway was about 2 weeks. Communication with the contractor and the work crew was cordial and useful.
Drive by and inspect our new driveway.
