Dustin Wood, one of the owners of Mountain Tyme Construction, incorrectly installed wood floors. He failed to remove carpet (thus voiding warranty), nailed through face of wood as opposed to nailing in the tongue or groove, used nails instead of manufacturer's caveat to use staples, damaged wood in installation, attempted to remedy and ran out of replacement wood. New flooring had to be ordered and re-installed by qualified installer. Dustin Wood acknowledged it was his responsibility, but he was unable to pay for the second floor or its installation. He painted kitchen walls, at least three times, with incorrect paint (flat latex rather than semi-gloss) and painted without adequately prepping walls and ceiling. The entire kitchen had to be re-painted. He lacquered existing cabinetry but lacquer in parts of the cabinets dried before it hit the cabinet. Parts of existing cabinetry had to be re-done. He wired can lights with Romex wire resting on sharp edges of junction box which would have resulted in a short or fire. He knocked a huge hole in lath and plaster ceiling before realizing the can light could not be installed because he was directly under the ceiling joist. The electrical in the kitchen had to be re-done. He built three cabinets. He broke the leg off of one cabinet while trying to install it and then in trying to repair it he split the wood in three different places because he used screws that were too large for the leg. He failed to repair the actual break of the leg. On another cabinet, he scratched the lacquered surface and never repaired it. He consistently mis-measured cabinet doors and drawers. He had to re-do some of the doors three times because of his mis-measurements. In venting an existing heat vent through one of the cabinets, he kicked in the existing vent to bend it and then did not cover or repair the hole he had created. He failed to match the outgo of the previous vent with the outgo through the cabinet. He attempted to hide the mess he created behind the cabinet, but when the granite cabinet had to be removed to re-floor, the mess was discovered. He was 19 days over his stated completion date and seldom worked longer than 50 minutes a day. He was supposed to be the general contractor on the project, but never hired out any of the work. He was supposed to have called the granite person, but did not. He cancelled three meetings with the granite person and then failed to show for the fourth meeting. All arrangements on installation were done by the homeowner. There was never a time that Dustin Wood did not have an excuse why a cabinet could not be delivered or why he was unable to work longer on the project. Credibility was a huge issue, along with his workmanship. Dustin Wood was given two weeks to remedy the problems he created and caused before his services were terminated.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel which included building three cabinets, putting in wood floor, electrical, limited plumbing, prepping and painting.
