The bid was for $2200. That included creating the forms for the new sidewalk, pouring that sidewalk, pouring the concrete for the hot tub pad, and clean up. My dad and I had the forms set for the hot tub all ready before they started their portion. Monday, day one they never showed up. Day two the got there pretty late in the morning. It wasn't the owner it was a cousin or something. I wrote the cousin a check for half on day two, $1100. Once they did finally get started they didn't have all the tools needed to complete the days work. They borrowed our wheelbarrow. They didn't have to take the dirt they removed off site. We let them dump it in an old pond. The following days went very similar. Showed up 11-12. Worked a few hours and then left. Meanwhile, we had our hot tub scheduled to be moved on Friday. They assured me during the bid they would be pouring concrete on Wed and the hot tub pad would be ready by Friday, no problem. That didn't happen. They didn't pour until Thursday afternoon. I had to reschedule the hot tub move. The clean was non existent. They grumbled about the rocks I wanted out of my yard and I made them clean my neighbors yard. They swept all the extra gravel off my driveway and into my yard. Overall, the sidewalk looks pretty good. I hope it withstands the elements as I am certain they don't warranty their work. Meanwhile, Mr. Rorabeck hasn't been on the job site more than 1 hour this whole time. But apparently was there long enough to break a part of the fence. He came by on Saturday to repair this part of the fence and to get the rest of the money. He fixes the fence and then takes my husband ( who has been out of town the whole week and doesn't really know what's going on) out of ear shot. He asks for $1250. That's $150 more than the original quote. He said the extra was for the hot tub pad and wheelbarrowing. My husband, not knowing any better wrote him a check. Of course, I was super mad. $150 is not a crazy amount of money but the issues we had with them and then to secretly ask for more money. I was fuming. I exchanged several text messages with Mr. Rorabeck to no avail. I told him my mistake was not getting his quote and everything included with in writing. He made additional snarky remarks and I quit responding. I told him I would tell anyone that would listen about the shoddy company he has his name on.
