Tom Keenan is the owner. He's been working for me since 2007. He comes every Thursday. He does a great job. He will do little extra things for me, sometimes he will charge, and sometimes he won't. For instance, I had a tree died over the winter and got a replacement but I don't have a way to transport that. The nursery would charge $50 and it's half the price of the tree. Tom went and picked it up for me. He's knowledgeable about plant materials. He goes green and everything that's possible. He's very concern about not using poison and making sure that he's doing things in equalizes sustainable way. I just needed somebody to plant stuff for me when I needed to plant and fertilize and he's just great with all of it. He's been really helpful with me.

We had just purchased a house and the lawn hadn't been mowed in a while. The owner of GrassRoots came over and spent a lot of time explaining the state of our yard, especially the right-of-ways which hadn't been mowed appropriately in a long time. Because of how long the grass was, he had to do three rounds of mowing on our 1/5 acre lot. He was very informative, helpful and expedient. Nice guy, great company.

It is going very well.  The philosophy of the company is to treat the soil, not the grass or the plants.  So there is no repetitive fertilizing to make the grass and plants look good.  It's not an overnight success but one that needs nurturing and long-term planning.  We are very happy with the results.

The guy that came gave me an estimate that was very high for the work. I am not complaining. It was more that just what we could afford so we did it ourselves. He was in line but we could not afford it. He was very nice.

It's mostly a one man operation, although he gets help in the high summer. When I first moved here, I was looking for someone to do weekly yard work. I searched on the Internet and went through the phone book as I didn't really know anyone. But he had a website and I liked the name. I don't think I have looked at the website since then and that was probably three years ago. So I don't know if he still maintains it. I just liked his approach; and I had him come and work while I was trying to decide. He is just terrific and incredibly reliable. I don't really know in terms of the comparison and I have never used anyone else. I don't know if he is more expensive or less expensive. He is not cheap, but he does an awful lot of stuff. When there is special treatment like weeds or using sprinkler systems; he has a whole raft of people that he can call on to do these specific things. He is kind of vetted and he knows they are good; because he has used them before, especially for someone who is new to the area. He is great and he is also just a really good guy. They have closed up for the winter here. He charges about $100 a day.
