I had a gentleman by the name Dave from Cedar Savers a St. Louis representative come out to my home that my wife and I purchased. The reason for his visit was to mainly to go over the transferred roof warranty and also to get a much better understanding about cedar roofs in terms of future maintenance and proper care that might be needed. The original warranty was with the previous owners of the home. The past owners had it transferred to my wife and I for a fee which they did paid for in full. Shortly after that first visit with Dave, he scheduled one of his workers to come out to my home and walk the entire roof to give me an assessment of our roofs current condition and future maintenance that might be needed. Dave then recommended to me that the roof should be cleaned and spray treated again even though he told me that there was still several years remaining on that original roof warranty for the work that they previously had done with the past owners of our new home. Dave from Cedar Savers specifically told me that if I would agree to pay to have the roof cleaned and treated again that he would extend the warranty another 7 years from the day that the roof treatment was completed. This was a very expensive cost for us to have this work done, however we decided to trust him and go ahead with his recommendation to have the roof cleaned and treated once again. Since that time Dave from Cedar Savers has never sent us any type of paper work that would show us a roof warranty extension that he promised me in our initial agreement. Moreover I decided to inspect the roof myself shortly after Cedar Savers came out and completed the roof cleaning and treatment that we paid for earlier. During my inspection I discovered that there were several ridge caps that were busted and broken, cracked or missing. These ridge caps were previously replaced or repaired prior to the purchase of this home. That work for the ridge caps was paid for in full by the previous owners and is still covered under the warranty agreement that was transferred to us which was now in our name. I finally was able to get in contact Dave earlier this year in July 2018. I brought forward to him about the ridge caps that are damaged and the extension of the warranty for the roof cleaning and spraying work that was completed. Since then I have tried on multiply occasions to contact Dave from Cedar Savers St.Louis region and also Lacey from the Cedar Savers home office in Indiana to discuss these issues in greater details with them. Cedar Savers will not return any of my phone calls or text messages that i have sent to them. My recommendation to any one in mid west who are considering work to be performed on a cedar roof to stay clear of Cedar Savers. Thank You. Sincerely, From a typical home owner who got burned by this shady contractor
