On the positive side, we were able to get the job done for a good price.
However, there were several negatives that came with the positive:
- After placing the order, there was a long period of time before they started working. They had said that they would start work in two weeks, but after 2 1/2 weeks, I finally had to call them up to inquire about the status. They said that they were delayed due to and quot;Engineeringand quot; and were still waiting to get all the materials. I waited another two weeks, still heard nothing from them, and had to call again. Again they said they were still waiting, and didn't have a firm start date. It took slightly more than seven weeks after placing the order for them to start work on the project. This felt like quite a delay, considering that two weeks was initially quoted.
- Pacific Home and Patio uses a sub-contractor for rain-gutter work. When the work was supposed to start, I found out that they had forgotten to plan the rain gutter work, and I had to coordinate the rain-gutter work myself. This felt strange to me, since I had purchased a patio package that included rain-gutter work, but that wasn't that bad of an issue.
- The quality of the work that was done is pretty rinky-d***. Much of the workmanship looks very amateur-ish, something like an inexperienced do-it-your-selfer would do. There are metal pieces that are scratched and dented. There are nuts and bolts that look like they are the wrong size. There are what appear to be and quot;home-madeand quot; pieces that don't look very good aesthetically.
- 4. I purchased the most expensive material for the patio covering, which is a solid foam-core laminate, with an integrated water gutter system on the front edge. This gutter leaks, which causes water to drip in the exact area of my house that I was hoping to protect from water.
- After the assembly and installation was and quot;completeand quot;, there were several screws and bolts that were not fully and quot;screwed inand quot;. I was able to finish the assembly myself.
- Also after the installation was complete, there was a fairly major mess in my back yard. There was a fair amount of debris that I had to clean up, including some large pieces of sheet-metal, metal shavings and scraps, loose screws, etc.
- I called Pacific Home and Patio to bring my concerns to their attention (mostly the leaking drainage gutter), they said they would send out someone to do the repair. Nobody ever showed up. After my experience with noting that they were not very good at punctuality or follow-through, I went ahead and fixed the leak myself.
