Ms. McClendon is knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. She arrived on time. After I had briefly explained what our tentative remodel plans are, she then proceeded to look the house over, slowly and carefully, both inside and outside, noting (for example) where the 1959 Yellowstone earthquake had introduced cracks in the exterior walls. I shared with her copies of the original blueprints, and information regarding the duntile brick construction of the house. She reviewed the blueprints with me, noting where it would be best to have the partial 2nd floor built. Most helpful, she explained that we need not 'lift' the house to replace the foundation and waterproof the basement. Apparently, a contractor can work in sections and dig down & rebuild the foundation in sections. This was good news indeed. Further, she described the process that I had only guess at so far. Step 1. Structural engineer inspection. Step 2. Architectural plans. Step 3. Review of plans by engineer. Step 4. Submission of plans for building permits. Step 5. Hire building contractor. And I would add, watch either Mr. Blandings Builds his Dreamhouse or The Money Pit on a weekly basis throughout the process. Sarah provided me with a short list of potential architects and remodeling contractors whom I can now contact to continue the process. I can now proceed with the needed work on the house, confident that we are headed in the right direction.
Description of Work: She completed a remodeling feasibility study on our 1931 (built by grandfather) N.End brick residence in anticipation of a major remodel. We would like to replace the foundation, waterproof the basement, remodel the kitchen & bath, and add a partial 2nd floor.
