We have been in a 5 year renovation of a 100 year old home in Boise's north end.  This year, it was time to have the 678 sq. ft. paver patio installed in what had become nothing but dirt back yard.  Of the 3 bids received, we chose Far West Landscape because they took time to fully understand our drainage concerns with the house's sandstone foundation.  Gus Hess visited the site multiple times and brought in a consultant from the paver company to assist with planning the right solution  before submitting their bid.  They were not the least expensive bid, but we had confidence they understood and had planned for our issues.  
They showed up on time and completed the project within the planned time frame.  The work ethic, professionalism and attention to detail by the crew was outstanding.  When we ran into an unplanned issue with the sandstone foundation, the consultant was brought in to discuss and recommend a solution.  They repaired and integrated an old sandstone basement entry and agreed to use an historical lime based mortar recipe (provided by us) to help with controlling spalling, even though this was a technique new to them.  The work site was cleaned up each day and left clean at the end of the project.
The biggest compliment we can pay is that they LISTENED to us before, during and after the project and were as willing to learn from us as we were from them.
We are extremely happy with the look of the permeable paver patio and, a month in, the drainage is working as promised.  We would highly recommend Gus, Rance, Adrian and the entire crew for any hardscape project.

First of all we worked with a fellow named Gus. He was very knowledgeable about what plants and trees would work the best for our new back yard. He made recommendations but also listened to us which was nice. When we had an idea he would break it down and explain if there were any concerns he had about the job, the plants and trees, etc. Gus was always responsive if we tried to contact him, he scheduled meetings with us and was prompt in meeting our needs.

His Crew: They were very hard workers and answered any questions we had. They always cleaned up after themselves and we had to do nothing in the way of cleaning up after them except power washing off truck/skidsteer tire tracks off of our driveway when they were removing the huge willow tree stump. That was no big deal for me as I have a very powerful washer.

Overall the Far West team did a great job, we are very please with the results, quality of plants, trees and work performed. I highly recommend them for this type of landscaping work.

The people that work there are always very helpful and knowledgeable. They have an extensive inventory of plants and supplies. Every time I'm looking for something...copper rain chains, auger for my drill, and most importantly, advice for my new yard...they have it! Their location is a wonderland and my last visit was breathtaking as it is full blown spring!!! So many choices!!! Everything you have ever seen in a magazine! It's probably a good thing I don't live closer.

We have never used them for landscaping, but we have bought plants there. They are very high quality. They tend to be a little bit more expensive than other places where you could buy such things.

If you are looking at a landscaping project for the coming year look no farther than Farwest. Gus Hess did a great job on the design and he listened to what we wanted. Salvador and the crew did an excellent job and cleaned up the site every night. We went from a back yard that was OK to one that is great for entertaining and just sitting back and relaxing. The front yard went from so so to one that the neighbors and walkers comment on and that we love. All we can say is Thank You Farwest

The staff is delightful! The quality of their plants are exceptional along with offering a wide variety to choose from.
I've been a customer for many years and consider Farwest to be one of the BEST in the valley.

Although I purchase plants at places like Zamzow's, Fred Meyer, Lowe's and Home Depot--primarily out of convenience--I most enjoy shopping at FarWest Garden Center. It is a long way from my home, so I need to plan my trips there instead of just heading out for 20 minutes.
One of the biggest reasons I like FarWest has to do with the quality of employees. They are all very knowledgeable, skilled, and willing to share their expertise. They seem to really enjoy their work! While I've gotten great advice and ideas from everyone there, I particularly appreciate Crickett and Heidi for their above-and-beyond help with gardening and product selection.
Another reason I like FarWest is knowing that their products are high quality. I don't have this assurance when I shop at places like Freddies, and take that chance when doing so.
I hate shopping. However, going to FarWest is better than shopping. It's an education, it's enjoyable, it's shady, and the people are nice. What more could one want?
There is also a reduced-price plants area. If you haven't yet taken a look at these plants, do so. Sometimes there are real gems there!

My experience is excellent with this company. They came out and did what they said they were going to do. They actually put in two patios, a fountain and some other landscaping shrubs and trees and that type of thing. We agreed upon it and everything turned out just wonderful. We were very happy the work and the workers were very friendly too. I would use them again.

We had a very unpleasant shopping visit at Far West on 6/22/2012. We went through the horseshoe enter/exit driveway, loaded two bags of sand into the back of our S10 pickup, drove back around towards the exit/office. We were immediately set upon by two employees who claimed we were stealing and/or shoplifting (I don't recall which). Jennifer and I were stunned as we were still within the Far West queue, with cash in hand, and moving towards a parking space. Jennifer was then followed around inside the store and harangued by someone claiming to be the owner and demanding to know, and ldquo;What else have you got in the vehicle ?and ldquo; We can't think of anything that inspired such abuse - our transportation, our dress, demeanor, demographics, etc. The only thing we can come up with is that it must have been a bad day at Far West. I'd advise not sending your family and/or friends to Far West unless they are aggressive and assertive enough to defend themselves against Far West management and staff abuse.

They did the entire backyard. I paid about $25000. They took out the deck, hardscaping and did the concrete work. They also cleaned up the fire pits, put in a fountain, and new plants. I would recommend them to others, especially if they have a big project. The guy who did the plants, he was a good guy. He was the architect for the backyard; he was very detailed in his planning. The crews always cleaned up.They were very professional. They worked hard. Sometimes I was working from home and I could see them working without taking a lot of breaks and they got it done, so it was good. I would use them in the future; in fact I'll use them for my front yard.
