They called on May 5th and said it was ready, so it was done earlier than expected.  I had not gotten an estimate and the charge was $75.  They said they cleaned the tank, line and carburetor.  They helped me load it.  I took it home gave the cord a pull and it started right up.  Very happy with their work.  I have used them for several years and have no complaints.  A few years back my father-in-law had an MTD snow blower that was not working right.  After several trips to another place and not having good results I suggested D & J.  He used them and when he got it back it ran perfectly.

They picked up with flat tire and I mentioned that it had slow leak. It took longer week that they promised. The bill was higher then what I was told on the phone .I moved out house so house was empty so no one could or did use running lawn mower. When property manager came by it was flat. She called they picked up second time she tried to resolve issue with them they demanded that she pay in full plus additional forty dollars to pick it up second time before they would return my riding lawn mower. I shouldn't have to pay second trip since they didn't fix right first time but claiming it was my fault that it was fine in the shop.

It went very well. My only complaint would be the lack of info on the website...but don't let that stop you. Give them a call and they will help you. Once I dropped off my mower they said it would take 5-7 days to fix. They called in 4 days...very fast even though it was spring and they were very busy.
Highly recommended.

They did an excellent job and the price was exactly what they had estimated it to be. Very helpful in loading and unloading my mower.

They were ok but I just felt like they were trying to over charge me. There was one part they had to order and I ended up going online and found the price for half the price they wanted to charge me. They took a week longer then they said they would. The work they did though was fine. It really did upset me that they never offered to help me load and unload to equipment as that showed me there were not courteous to their customers escpically since they were not doing anything.
Response from D & J Small Engines
"We are aware that there are internet sites that offer lower prices on parts but we charge MSRP + shipping for the parts when there is a shipping charge. As for helping load and unload we are always suposted to help with this. Sorry that you did not get help."

When I entered the showroom there was a heavy set woman on the phone, I assume with a customer. Since she was on the phone I began looking at the string trimmers for about 5 or 6 minutes. Then finally stood at the counter until she was done. When she done I showed her the rubber strap and said it was on a Toro LX420 and held the bagger on. She said she would have to have the model # so I said it was an LX420 and she said that is not the model number. I said it has LX420 printed right on the side and she responded that not a model # and she would need that and the year before she could help. I said it was a 2009 and then I ask if she could just check to see if they had any parts that looked like my strap and she said no. Then she said the model # would not help since it was for the bagger. I said it was for a 42and quot; mower deck and from my reseach when I bought it there seemed to be only one. She said she could not help. I ask if there would be any other place in town and she said no.
If I were in her place I would have at least offered to try to match the piece from my inventory of parts or at least try looking up the bagging system. I believe the piece is very common. Maybe even suggest another merchant if I could not or would not help. I did not get an ounce of customer service.
There is no way I will ever go near that place again. I can find a better place to spend my dollars. I bought a Stihl string trimmer at D and B Supply instead and a rubber bungy at Lowes.
Response from D & J Small Engines
"You need to always have the Model and serial # for equipment when looking for parts so that we can look it up and get you the right part the first time. As for tring to match it up there is probable about 500 parts boxs in the parts room and they are by manufacturer and part number. So with out a part number it is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. We try to give the best customer service posable to all of our customer."

Requested an estimate beforehand since we were planning on selling the lawn mower at our garage sale - estimate was given same morning and work completed same day. Work came in less than the estimate. Also gave us an idea of its value for our sale which we got. They were quick, friendly, and the lawn mower ran like new and looked like new afterwards. Only problem was finding them - they had just moved to a new location that is actually easier to find (right next door to Costco) but they need to update their new address for Angie's List to 7479 Lemhi.
