Brush Above The Rest Painting Services (B.A.R.)

Brian and his crew did a great job painting the exterior of our 77-year old house last fall.  Some 17 years had passed since the last paint job, so they took exceptional care to sand, caulk and prime.  Once the prep work was done, they painted the siding quickly, cleaned up the mess, and were on their way.  One more thing:  After Boise suffered one of its harshest winters on record, the work held up remarkably well.  There were a couple of places where water got under the paint, froze, and caused some peeling.  But I'll be asking Brian to touch those up as soon as the weather warms.  I gladly recommend Brian and his Brush Above the Rest crew.

This is the second time Brian and his crew have painted our house.  They take the time to powerwash and let the house dry a few days before doing the prep, then actually painting.  Brian and his crew also did some minor exterior siding repair which was not unexpected and agreed upon prior to the work beginning. His crew started at 6 AM prior to the heat of the day, and cleaned up the work site each evening.  Brian did not accept payment until the work was complete and inspected by us.  Outstanding customer service, we look forward to having Brian and his crew back the next time we paint.

We got 3 bids prior to choosing Bryan. The bid from B.A.R (brush above the rest) was slightly lower than the rest, but this is not why we chose them. We chose Bryan because he was not scared off by the stain work that needed to be done. The stain work was extensive on the exterior and the other 2 contractors wouldn't commit to a specific cost for it or their were going to bid high.
Also, B.A.R. did our neighbors house across the street. They did a fantastic job on that home.
The only thing we had a slight hiccup on was that I showed Bryan a color that I saw on a website. He used the color code that was there. They painted the home while I was on vacation and it was a green color and we were expecting tan.
So Lesson 1: Buy sample paint from your paint supplier and apply it to your home. Don't choose paint you haven't bought a sample of.
The biggest reason I would recommend Bryan and use them again is because they worked with us tremendously in regards to this mishap on the pricing. It was a mutual lesson and I'm sure the crew is giving the same advice to their clients as I just shared in lesson 1.
The second biggest reason is the Quality of work. Extremely happy with the precision and the results of the staining.
The 3rd reason is speed. They were done when they said they'd be.
I'll be leaving a Google review which will allow me to show before and after photos. We have gotten a lot of compliments on our home.

We have an historic east end home, including a detached double car garage and a old carriage house. Brian came out the same day they were called to provide an estimate. We were pleased with the value their bid offered compared to other companies listed on Angieand quot;s list. Once we accepted the bid, they worked with us selecting the colors. They began the project as committed and worked through the weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) to complete the project in record time. This 100 yr old home needed significant prep, including scraping, sanding, and glazing of old windows. We were pleased with the attention to detail and the overall professionalism.
While this was a mulit-day project, they left the property neat every evening, so we did not look in disarray throughout. Several of our neighbors who watched the work, have asked for the name of this company. We definitely recommend them!

When the company moved inside to paint I had to ask them to leave as the color was wrong, and the workmanship was not good. The company sued me for breach of contract, to which the Court held up I was in the right, the company had no basis and dismissed the cases. Also we have repeatedly requested that they remove our home before and after pictures from their website, and they replied they would but it would take up 14 days to remove the photos, which never happened (I still have their email). I probably would not even be here on Angie's list if they had removed the photos and quit using our home as a reference when I requested it, however it is interesting fun when their potential customers stop and ask to look over the house....

Bottom line: I got a nice job at a price that we agreed on and in a very timely manner. I did get a bid for about $200 lower from another painter but they couldn't do the job until late in July. This didn't work for me due to vacation plans, etc... I found that Brian was willing to negotiate on his price and that his crew did a good job, even though he himself . was away on vacation. I would recommend BAR Painting to others based on getting what I wanted, at a fair price, with quality results.

Great! The paint job looks great, the workers were friendly, they cleaned up nicely.

They power washed on Friday. Started what would normally be a two day job on Monday. They had to repaint the front of the house because the color had to be changed so they lost about 4 hours. Tuesday it rained all day. Wednesday they finished the painting, Thursday Bryan came over to personally inspect the job again and did any touch up work that he thought was needed and finished putting plant hangers, weather stripping and kick plates back on the house and doors.

They were wonderful, there bid was dead on, they were able to get the job done in a day, they did everything the way that they said they would, it was very high quality.
