I took in an old wooden chair of my grandmother's because the back of it was cracking. They said they could fix the back of the chair to make it more sturdy. Later, they called me to say that they noticed some of the caning in the seat of the chair was ripped in a few places. Typically, I take all of my caning work to Colberg's Antique Caning in Star because they are nice people and best in town. However, since I had already dropped off the chair for one repair, I decided that they could go ahead and do the caning. BIG mistake!!! ArtCraft charges $3/hole for caning, whereas Colberg's charge just $1.35/hole. The cost of the caning came out to $228 whereas I have taken in an identical chair to Colberg's for caning and it totaled just $90. Furthermore, the Colberg's are super passionate about caning and their work is superior. In summary, if you have any caning repairs, go to Colberg's. You'll be glad you did.

"(member name removed) did not seem to be critical of the work performed. We regret her dissatisfaction with our company. Before anything was done to repair or recane the chair, the price was agreed upon by email. We have been caning since 1983, and do not believe we would still be doing it if there was no passion in it. In fact, we are blind caning a chair back that was referered to us by Colberg's. If price is the issue, even though it was agreed upon with the customer, we would remind people there is no way to compete equally as a commercial business paying employees, taxes, business insurance, advertising, etc. with a home-based business. We pride ourselves as a family owned business for the past 95 years, and always make it a priority to produce the finest quality repairs and restoration."

I took the two stools to Artcraft Refinishing, agreed up price, left the stools and picked them back up in the agreed upon time frame. It was a satisfying experience.

Refinished seriously marred dining room table with 3 leaves. Refinished and six dining room chairs and made repairs to make them sturdy again. I was so pleased with the job that I later had them refinish a small living room table. Their price was no bargain but the results were worth every penny.
