Porch Light Woodworking is a locally owned custom shop, specializing in one-of-a-kind designs for a variety of business or residential needs. Owner Tim Kern draws from his understanding of wood species, finishes, and attention to detail that take any project from concept to completion. A graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute, a four-year college of art and design, Tim brings artistry, craftsmanship, commitment to quality, and a keen of sense of proportion and style to each design and project he completes — from jewelry boxes to custom homes. Tim has experience building replicas of existing items, pieces to match furniture already in the home, as well as creating new designs from a multitude of sources – many clients bring magazine clippings, Pinterest and Houzz photos, even napkin drawings to serve as starting points for their designs.
