Thermal Tek LLC

We smelled gas in the basement, so we had our energy company come check it out. They discovered a leak in a tee in one of the pipes. They tagged it and shut off our gas per their policy. We then contacted our home warranty provider and they scheduled Thermal Tek to come out the next day to repair the leak. When the Thermal Tek rep came to the door, he never introduced himself or stated who he was with or what he was there for. The first words out of his mouth were, "How long have you lived here?" which I thought was odd. He then went on to tell a story about someone he knew in the neighborhood. I mean, small talk is fine, but he acted like he had nothing to do and just kept on talking. Finally, I had to ask him if he was here for the gas leak, wondering if maybe he forgot why he was here. He took a look at the pipes, and proceeded to ignore the tee where the energy company rep indicated where the leak was, and resealed a nearby plug instead, claiming that he was absolutely certain that's where the leak was - not in the tee where the energy company indicated. Not wanting to act like a know-it-all, but suspecting he was trying doing the least amount of work possible, I asked him a couple times to at least do a test on the line to see if his repair fixed the leak. He refused, asked for his $60 service call fee, and left. Well, he was wrong. The energy company rep who came that night to check the repair and turn on the gas was very surprised at how Thermal Tek acted. He said that if it was something as simple as resealing a plug they would have done it, no charge, because it takes about 2 minutes. So we had to go another night and another entire day without heat or hot water because the Thermal Tek rep was too lazy to make a real repair. He just got a quick $60 for doing absolutely nothing. I would recommend staying away from this company.
