The Stumpf Construction folks and their subcontractors did an absolutely outstanding job for us. When interviewing contractors and getting their ideas about how to resolve our problem, it became very clear to us that Chad Stumpf is truly an expert in determining how to fix drainage problems such as the one we were experiencing. He recommended, and his company installed, a new 4" thick $000 PSI driveway designed to take the flow of water away from our house. His company also waterproofed the garage floor/driveway joint and installed subsurface drainage tile under our driveway The water now flows --even in heavy rains--off our driveway and away from our house into a new small dry rock bed that Stumpf Construction installed after regrading an area to the side of our house. In addition to this work, and the re-coating of our garage floor, among other things, his company and subcontractors also installed paver stones in areas of our driveway which are prone to tree root growth, and in another area adjacent to our house, installed new downspouts, dug out and installed a new exit pipe for one downspout, removed the bottom row of siding on one section of our house, replaced it with a waterproof membrane and covered it with protective PVC board. We could not be more pleased with the quality of the design products and workmanship provided by Stumpf Construction and its subcontractors. We highly recommend this contractor to anyone who has basement water issues caused by drainage problems outside a house or building.

We had a bit of a hiccup on the project and Stumpf did such a nice job taking care of the issue. They are honest, profession, and do great work. They are the best contractor we have worked with in the area.

On the first warm day in February, I came home from work to find water in the basement. Thawed snow had filled a window well and was seeping down the basement wall, soaking the floor of a storage room and part of a finished area. That night I bailed out the water, but by the next morning, it was like I'd never done anything. The first basement guy I called basically said there wasn't anything I could do about it, and that I'd have to regrade in the spring. Then I called Stumpf Construction. Chad Stumpf came out that day and used a small sump pump to remove the water (which he let me borrow until they were able to do the work), and he fixed the downspout, which was also part of the problem. He explained that because we live on a hill, water was draining right into our window, and that the best way to divert it would be to cut a swale (a small ditch) along the side of the house in the spring. He then explained how I could protect the window well so no more snowmelt would get in.
It was May before they could do the work (probably because they're good), but Chad was in contact with me and had even been out once to explain what they'd be doing and to address my wife's and my concerns about how the swale might affect a large fenced-in garden. His recommendations seemed totally pragmatic, and I never once felt that he was suggesting we do anything unnecessary.
The swale has since filled in with grass and looks great, but, more importantly, because of that and the regrading, we haven't had any water in the basement. The crew changed the shape of the garden to accommodate the swale, but they took a lot of care doing so, and it looks as if that's the way it's always been.

Terry Stumpf has done 3 major projects for me. All have been done on budget and on time.
In the case of the concrete steps I was not satisfied with the first set of steps. He replaced them at no additional cost.
The garage wall rebuild was a $12,000 project that has exceeded my expectations. Excellent workmanship.

We could not be any happier with the quailty of work that was done. Terry had to make a couple of trips over to discuss the process and spent time going over what had to be done in order to fix the problem as well as a few extras that were optional and not needed right now. He then took the time to explain each option in great depth so that we could understand what was going to happen. The crew that worked at our house was very professional and incredibly knowledgable of what process they were working on. They took time to answer a couple of questions we had while we were there, were sure to understand exactly what we were expecting etc.
Could have we gotten our job done cheaper by someone else....probably, someone is always will to outbid someone else, but we are confident that the job would not have been the quailty we received from Stumpfs. They are worth every penny. If there was an option for an A+ we would have given that in every category.

Stumpf Construction Services were excellent. I'd tried working with a lot of different contractors the past year, getting things done in the basement and they were the most reliable and the most efficient. When they said they were going to be there, they'd be there. While they were here, they were very efficient. Everything with the work went as well as it could have gone. I haven't had any problems. We haven't had any torrential downpours yet, but I haven't had a drop in the basement yet and it's a 100 year old basement. Before they came in, last Spring, we had some rain. The water was just coming in everywhere down here. So for it to be completely dry still here, it's amazing. The price was a little more than I expected, but for the results, it was definitely worth it.

It was a major job. They did a good job of cleaning up every day, and letting me know what they would be doing every day. They were punctual, very professional, and easy to get along with. I had a limited amount of time to complete the job, and they worked hard to finish on time. I would definitely hire them again.

They were extremely professional. They completed the work efficiently and responded quickly when we reported that they hadn't painted one area surrounding the step.

I had repeated water seepage problems in the basement. Terry Stumpf came out to provide an estimate and displayed excellent knowledge about the causes and potential solutions. I ultimately asked him to install a tile drainage system and the job was completed in a timely and professional fashion. The system has worked wonderfully thus far -- no water seepage, even though we've had at least 1 horrific storm since installation.I also appreciated the team's efforts to clean the basement after installation. Contractors frequently leave a mess wherever they go, but Terry's team vacuumed and cleaned up the debris remaining from the (substantial) project. I would highly recommend Stumpf Construction Services (also called the "Basement Doctor", I think).
