"Out of State Florida Owners of a Country House outside Eldridge Iowa. We were hired to do a roof repair on the house in the fall of 2017. Additionally we were asked to remove and replace a custom fit window in the old house. The missing shingles on the WEST, REAR of the house were replaced on the steep second story, drip edge on the rear of the house was put back in place and the custom fit window was installed. Customer paid the bill within ten days and was satisfied with the result. We did inform the customer and supplied 33 photos of shingles that were unsealed and would eventually blow off. Encouraged the customer to allow us to help them get their entire roof replaced with Insurance funding due to wind damage. The customer declined. Six months later after spring storms in 2018 the customer called from Florida complaining that shingles were off their roof on the FRONT and EAST of their house. They threatened to put a bad review on Home advisor if we did not replace the missing shingles. Dave Padilla and a member of the roofing crew replaced the missing shingles on the front of the second story steep roof , yet not the east side where we had never set foot on and the shingles were sliding off the roof due to wind damage. We did not charge for the repair in 2018 on the front of the house. True to their word Larry put a bad review on Home Advisor and demanded we refund the money from 2017 for the roof repair. Due to their approval of the work in 2017 and doing free work on their rental property in 2018 we did not refund their money. We again told them on the phone and via email that the 17 year old roof had been done with cheap shingles almost two decades ago and that they now were blowing off the roof seventeen years later due to wind storms, a cheap shingle put on in 2000 and poor workmanship when the roof was completely roofed back in 2000. To no avail. Home Advisor was notified, Padilla Contracting provided dozens of photographs and the bad review was taken down. Twice. Larry is very persistent and again posted a bad review yet now it is being called an opinion by Home Advisor and they say they cannot remove it. Padilla Contracting has photographic proof the repairs were done , showing Dave Padilla in the photos repairing the area we charged for in 2017 and the area we did for free in 2018. Larry has no before or after photos and no corroborating evidence supporting lack of professionalism or dishonesty."
"Dawn received 90 percent funding for her House and Garage roof from Insurance proceeds due to the consulting work done by Dave Orsi from Padilla Contracting. She was prepared to pay out of pocket yet it was explained to her due to the storms in 2017 we could greatly reduce her out of pocket cost. Dave met with the Insurance adjuster, assisted in identifying the storm damage and her house roof and her garage roof was approved. A small area consisting of her back porch roof was not approved and she agreed, in writing, to pay out of pocket for her rear porch roof that was much newer as she wanted a new lifetime shingled roof on the main House Roof, back porch roof and Garage. During the first initial meeting Dave verbally explained that in Iowa, Insured Homeowners are responsible for paying the Contractor their deductible amount when the work is finished. Dawn signed our customer - contractor agreement stating this in bold letters. Dawn also signed a copy of the 2015 Iowa Code, that among other communication, states that the customer is responsible to pay their deductible amount to the Contractor that does the work upon completion of the work. Dave supervised the work as it progressed and three days later did a walk around with the customer and at that time Dave and the Homeowner groomed the yard for additional nails that were missed in the clean up. It did take several weeks for the shingle manufacturer to email Dawn her Limited Lifetime Shingle Warranty yet Dawn has had that warranty since December of 2017. Padilla Contracting set up a no interest six payment arrangement for Dawn to pay her deductible and the back porch roof amount. Dawn has made three payments since 2017 and ceased paying the other three payments as of may of 2018. Dawn had everything in writing from the first initial sit down consultation, including the bold printed type stating she was responsible for her deductible and the hand written price on the agreement for her back porch. She reviewed the paperwork and signed it. Padilla Contracting is compliant with Iowa Law in this regard and we do not engage in " Rebating " paying for a customers Insurance deductible. Dawn received a Limited Lifetime Shingled roof with a non deductible 15 year warranty and a prorated warranty extending to 50 years on her House, Garage Roof and rear Porch roof for an out of pocket cost of 1900, including deductible. Dawn made three payments for a total of 950 of the 1900 owed and ceased paying the other three payments as of May 2018."
