I paid him up front and sadly didn't write out a contract (huge mistake)He started in July and promised to be done in 3 or 4 days.It took him a total of 4 months.He brought his girlfriend part of the time.He gave me 2 phone numbers, 1 became disconnected, the other I left messages on was not responded to.I ended up having to call his supervisor for a valid phone number.We completed a contract (at his supervisor's urging as she told me of 3 other parties he did the same thing to (all women, like he thinks women are stupid or something)... plus my hairdresser's mother...) and gave him 2 weeks to finish. He wasn't finished at the end of two weeks, didn't even start till day 11 of the 2 weeks given to him. Contract specified the fee was paid in full but he was to repay me the entire fee plus 20% not done by deadline (recall he had already had over 3 months to paint 4 lousy rooms and wasn't done yet).He withheld my key, and tried to present an "invoice" for an additional thousand, with the threat that if not paid he would put a mechanics lein on my house and charge me his attorney fees.I consulted a lawyer who said the contract would be enforced if this went to court and I owe him nothing more (I agree).He still put a mechanics lein on my house.I had to pay a locksmith to re-key my entire house, since he wouldn't return the key..I am not paying a lawyer to get the mechanics lein off... so far this guy is costing me a huge amount of money stillllllll.My lawyer is still dealing with this big mess and it's still costing me money and I am so angry.
