We got a quote/estimate in July and Dan said he would be out in late September or October. We did finally hear from him in early November and he came out in mid November. We had him cut down 13 large trees (30-40 yr old Mulberry, Silver Maple, and Pine) and ground out the stumps from those trees as well as several others. His crew also trimmed up our remaining trees (probably over 70 trees trimmed). They did a great job of cleaning up the yard, leaving virtually no branches behind. They also filled up the stump holes with dirt. His crew spent the better part of 4 days here. We feel like he did a great job and plan to have him back on an annual basis so that things don't get quite so overgrown next time.
Dan is a trained arborist and was quite professional. My only complaint was that his communication on schedule was inaccurate and he did not keep us informed as to when or if he was actually going to show up once he missed his original estimated date. His crews got stuck on some big jobs that took longer than expected, which happens, but he could have done a better job of communicating what was going on. I am rating him with a "C" for punctuality based on the delay in getting to our job.
The price ended up being a bit higher than the maximum indicated on the estimate, but he did more work than we discussed when he came out for the estimate and he communicated about the price while they were doing the job, so I had a chance to discuss and approve the overrun, which was very reasonable based on the work he ended up actually doing. We agreed on a new maximum price, which he went over by a bit, but he discounted the bill to match our agreed upon max.
Overall, Dan and his crew did a great job and they were professional and easy to work with.
