City Tractor Co. is a multi-line power equipment dealership. Our main product line is John Deere. We sell and service a wide variety of lawn equipment, utility tractors, skid-steer loaders, utility vehicles, and commercial landscape equipment. Full service includes sales, parts, repairs, maintenance, on-site mobile service, trade-ins, financing, new and used, pick-up and delivery, and consulting. We are a one-store independent dealership, locally-owned by John Conrads, Manager, and Phil Ropp, Myron Ropp, and Warren Ropp.

We were told that our mower would be returned to us in 4 or 5 days, but that estimate was not corrected when the true problem was uncovered. In the end, it took 19 days. At no point did we receive a call explaining the delay. We had to call the service department three times to find out what was going on. There were unexplained delays with parts (which turned out to be the fault of the City Tractor employee who placed the order), and communication problems between the shop and the people taking the phone calls. ?I don?t know, you?ll have to call back later? was the result of one call we made.
During another call, they told us that the mower would be done the next day (a Friday), but it wasn't actually ready to pick up until the following Tuesday. There was no communication of this delay either...they didn?t even call us when the mower was finished?we called them on Tuesday morning and found out it was ready to pick up. The communication was so poor that we were considering consulting a lawyer in case legal action was needed. When we finally picked up the mower, we asked for a discount because of the three-week inconvenience and terrible customer service, but the owner examined our bill and informed us that we ?got a really good deal? because the mechanic had made a mistake on the bill (even though the final bill was very close to the mechanic's original estimate). This company desperately needs to hire a customer service representative. Until they do, we will not return. 
On the plus side, they washed our mower, and so far it seems to run better than before it broke.

"Sept 25, 2015....John Conrads, owner of City Tractor Co., responding to the comments by Mr. [removed member name].....customer comments are always welcome, as these comments, both positive and negative, help us learn to improve our services and procedures....we apologize for the delayed repair of Mr.[removed member name]'s lawn tractor....this job took longer than it should have for various reasons....our technician believes that he spoke with the customer on three occasions during the repair process....we are very happy to provide loaner equipment, at no charge, but it was never requested.....customer did, in fact, "get a very good deal" because the technician, in error, estimated the job at approx 1/2 of required time....we billed for 4 hours, when the job actually should have been 8 hours....we honored our quote without objection.... i had no intention of discussing the pricing error with the customer; i showed the error only when the customer asked for further discounts.....our work is guaranteed.....we have 6 full-time technicians, plus support staff for clerical and hauling.....our shop completes approx 7500 repair jobs per year.....we invest in substantial training....we invest in substantial facilities, tools, vehicles, and computerization....we invest in long store hours....and, we survive in an industry with substantial attrition....we also achieve the high standards required by John Deere Co....our store is a single, privately-owned store; not part of a chain or group....we try to practice one-on-one customer service, and we receive an in-ordinate amount of thank-you's and compliments, in all departments, which is gratifying to me, for the for effort we expend....as Mr. [removed member name]pointed out, we are not always 100%, but our spirit is customer-oriented, fair, and responsive."
