Long story, we moved into our 1981 home and after a few weeks my dryer was losing power to tumble the clothes. Finally it quit altogether. I called in an appliance man who said the motor was burnt out. He order a new one, installed it, and it would barely tumble our clothes. To make a long story short, after numerous attempts from the appliance man, he determined that there was something wrong in our breaker box and it wasn't allowing enough power to run the dryer. He told me to call an electrician and then he packed up and was gone...here's your bill. (More on him in other post) Derek Wellington came in and tested the outlet for the dryer and determined there was plenty of voltage. He even tested the dryer under a load of laundry and said there was nothing wrong with the power supply. At that point I gave him the phone and the number of the appliance man. They talked things over for awhile and Derek finally discovered that our breaker box was not "bonded". Not sure what that means but sounds like it wasn't grounded. He screwed in a screw to bond the box and then he changed the breaker for the dryer. After a month of hanging my clothes to dry, the dryer works properly now.
