I hired Mason City Roofing to reroof my house in the fall of 2021. This was my experience with them: - Site preparation and clean up was very good. - Workers were experienced and efficient - Quality products - Competitive prices - Easy to work with - Timely in their communication - Responsive Costs: $7700 to reroof 1882 sq ft house +~$1500 for plywood for entire roof (unexpected, and lumber prices were high due to the pandemic) Professional work by an excellent, local, family-owned company. Can't say enough good things about Mason City Roofing. I built my home in 1999 and purchased 40 year GAF shingles from the local lumber yard I was dealing with. I had a crew of guys install them. I don't know who they were and certainly could never track them down again. What could go wrong, right? Well fast forward to 2019 I start having issues with my shingles. Turns out 40 year shingles only last 40 years if they are installed properly! Because of poor installation I got 20 years at a 40 year price. The crew from Mason City Roofing came out and inspected my roof and showed me all the things that were done incorrectly from 1999 and explained the proper way that it should have been done. I did not have enough ventilation so my shingles were too hot from the inside and combined with the UV/weather from the outside they were shot. Ernie worked with us and gave us a great price and his crew was very professional during the installation process. They protected my landscaping and deck and cleaned up after themselves. Plus, they are a GAF approved installer so if I have any difficulty with my shingles it will be covered. We have a large home and purchased top of the line GAF Life-time Glenwood Ultra Designer class IV Impact shingles with improved venting and we love them. I would highly recommend this company. Mason City Roofing is a family owned business and they are kind, friendly, hard working, and professional.

Workmanship was very well done. Employees worked very efficiently and constant clean up during entire job!

I can't say enough good things about Mason City Roofing. Ernie, his son Derrick and his entire crew are first-rate. Mason City Roofing was professional from the quote to the finished project. They performed the work as promised, on budget and on time. Mason City Roofing has been extraordinary with follow up and standing behind their work.

From start to finish the people at MC Roofing were professional and very thorough. They were the first roofer to call me back, perform an onsite assessment, and give me a quote. In addition to being very competitively priced, they were also the most thorough and the only ones to point out my roof ventilation issue and a solution. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They misquoted my roof and then tried to charge me more than our contract because of their error. Ended up paying because I didn’t want to deal with court proceedings. Lousy communication.

We have been extremely pleased with roofing done by Mason City Roofing Company. Their workers are highly capable and motivated. Site cleanup was ongoing and thorough. And our ears were not constantly assailed by loud music, not of our taste, which emanated from the work-side radios.

The team at Mason City Roofing was a pleasure to work with. They were professional and responsive to our needs. We were very pleased with the quality of workmanship used on our project.

It went well. Their roofers were here for two days and put in long hours in order to be done in a timely manner. They cleaned up after themselves. Did not find any nails on ground after they were finished. A representative from a satellite dish company was here a few days later to adjust the dish on the garage roof and he said it was one of the best roofing jobs he had ever seen.

Ernie was great to work with and scheduled us in fast. Derrick and the staff that worked on our home did a great job and cleaned up well after they were done.

M C Roofing provided professional and quality workmanship. The crews showed up on time and stayed until the job was done, keeping us updated during the process. When they were done the cleanup was detailed and thorough.

Back early June, my husband and I hired Mason City Roofing to replace the siding on our home. Days after signing the quote for the siding replacement, we noticed that our garage roof was leaking, and hired them to replace that as well. The owner seemed friendly and knowledgeable, we felt that he was trustworthy and professional. I was nervous about this project, since I have never had such large home repair done before, and the cost for this involved using most of our savings. The owner told us that work would begin in approximately 2-3 weeks and that once in progress the work would not take long to complete.

A few weeks after signing the quote, one of their employees came and unscrewed the decking on our deck. This seemed to make sense, since they needed to remove the deck to repair the garage roof. But, after unscrewing the decking... nobody came back. We started calling the company every week or so, and were told that they were getting to it. In the end, our deck was unusable all summer until the second week of September when they finally came and actually removed the deck entirely. The decking sat strewn in my yard for another week and a half before they came back and finished the roof repairs and replaced the deck.

On the day that they replaced the deck, they also removed all of the siding off of the back of our home. This was a relief to us, since the lack of progress on this project has been stressful. We thought this project would finally be completed, and we could still get our trim painted (we need the new siding on before we can paint the trim to match) before snow was on the ground. But, our home has been sitting with no siding - and no rain gutters - for nearly two weeks and no one has returned.

At this point, I am entirely at the mercy of this company and unbelievably frustrated. This is the most negative experience I have had as a home owner. If this company had too many jobs, I wish they had been honest with us back in June so we could have hired someone else.
