I did have to call back at least once because they didn't have their scheduling book in the room with them (it's called a "hold" button). The whole call did not seem organized and it wasn't really clear when they would come over and perform the work. For one hedge, I believe I was charged $130, which I thought was pricey.

They did very well, we were very pleased with their work. They were very good to work with, had things done in a timely manner and were very professional. We don't have any complains anyway with them so far. In fact we may have more work done by them. I think we thought it was a fair price. They were very responsive and timely.

They guaranteed their plants for a year but a couple of them didn't last. They're coming back to do it and replace them. They're really good about setting appointment and coming when they said they would come. Good communication and very open to my ideas. They did the work in a very timely manner. They tried to keep the cost down for me. They were really good about making suggestions I could get the same thing done for less money, less expense and that was huge.

I was impressed that they returned it to like new condition. Couldn't be happier with the outcome. They hit my deadline for a graduation party too. They were very responsive to replacing a burned out light on the wall a few months later. I plan to use them again this year for front yard work. We've received lots of compliments on the design, quality and materials they used.

I have had them doing a program where they come to my home 5-6 times per year to treat my lawn for the last 3 years and my yard continued to look like crap...literally one of the worst yards in our neighborhood! I hired TruGreen and within one treatment, it was green and lush and had 1/2 the amount of crab grass and weeds! I can't believe I wasted those years getting no improvement.

There were problems from the beginning. I offered to take pictures in to the office to show what ideas I had as preliminary info for the staff doing the estimate. However, the guy came to do the work under the air conditioner instead of give me an estimate (poor communication internally - the job for the air conditioner was to be delayed until an estimate was done). Since he was here, I agreed to do the little bit under the air conditioner for that day, but still expected the estimate to be done. Once he finished, I promptly went to the office and explained the estimate was to be done, and stated I offered to bring in pictures to help with the estimate but they were refused. So, after a discussion of what should have taken place (estimate first, work later) and expressing my frustration of lack of communication internally and between the company and me, I was told the bill for the work that was done would be incorporated into the estimate and we would go from there.
In the process of trying to get the estimate and figure out the details, I get the bill in the mail for the little bit that was done. Again, quite frustrated because I was told the bill would not be due until all the work was done and the estimate wasn't even done at this point. I had also asked for references of residential jobs they had completed in the last 12-18 months and the company refused, stating it was a violation of their customer's privacy (which I found quite odd because I just hired a new financial adviser, who deals with people's money all day, and he readily gave me references from his clients). By this point, I was beyond angry. I cancelled the pending estimate and paid the bill for the piddly little bit that was done.
Less than 2 months after having the river rock installed under the air conditioner, I have picked weeds/grass growing out of it. Not sure if they used a poor grade of landscaping fabric or if they pieced it together and left gaps, but the poor workmanship (on top of the poor communication and refusal to provide references) just reinforces the emphasis to never do business with them again.

Their service is excellent, the landscape is excellent. The only think that I didn't think was quite good was the fellow that came out to do the quote did an excellent job talking us into things but then he gave us some information that wasn't quite right. Some things didn't turn out the way I though they were going to turn out. He said that there was a place where I has a certain amount of elevation that I wanted steps, that there wasn't going to be room for them. It turns out that there was not only room for them but, there was room at the bottom where I could swing a gate, but it didn't turn out that way. Of course I was gone when they did it so I couldn't get it changed. But as far as the people that did the landscaping and the supervisor that came around checking on them, they did an excellent job. So overall I would get it done with them again.

My only complaint was when we were getting an estimate on the work I setup an appointment to meet at our house at 4:30. I had our project divided into 2 seperate project one for that summer and 1 for this summer. I didn't want to be late so I left work early. When I got home at 4:10 (for a 4:30 appt) I learned that he had already been there and left a quote. The quote wasn't for what I wanted in phase 2 and when I called about it, I was a little upset that we had an appointment and he just showed up a half hour early and was gone before I had a chance to talk to him, they didn't seem to care. We did have them do phase 1 of our project and they did a great job. It looks nice and they were in and out in a few hours.

The landscape designer Tyler and the crew that installed the landscaping (minus the lighting crew) were professional and good at what they do. That is the extent of good things that I can say about Culver's landscaping. The project manager Nick proved completely inept and incompetent in managing the project and never once showed up on site before, during or after the job. The lighting crew was also completely incompetent but I'll get to those details shortly.
April 2011:
My experience started with visiting Culver's landscaping office to talk to someone about landscaping my front yard only to be told nobody was there that could talk to me about it. They took down my information and said someone would be in contact with me. A few weeks later they decide to contact me. I should have took that as a red flag and moved on. I only stuck with them because I was already a customer with their lawn treatment service for 2 years who had done a decent job.
I met with the landscape designer Tyler who listened to what we wanted and prepared a design and after a few revisions gave him the go ahead and they requested a $3000 deposit at that point which I paid and was told work would start in a few weeks and would only take 2-3 days to complete the job.
May 2011:
I waited 3 weeks after I was told they would start the job in 2 weeks. At this point they still hadn't started the job and nobody from Culver's contacts me to let me know what's going on so I try several failed attempts at contacting this project manager Nick who over the course of several more weeks just keeps telling yeah we'll get out there in a few days only to wait another week and told the same thing again.
June 2011:
Finally they decide to show up. Well by they I mean the crew not the project manager. Only problem is the crew has no leader and were given no landscape designs to work from. I get my copy and give it to the crew at least until the landscape designer showed up and brought a copy for them. At this point the designer ended up acting as the project manager throughout the rest of the job. Not once did the actual project manager show up or even so much as call.
Finally at the end of June they claim the job is complete. Not so much. Now lets talk about their completely incompetent lighting crew. We are talking about over $2000 worth of professional landscape lighting. First they installed mostly incorrect lights, installed the wrong lighting control box and installed it too far away from the electrical outlet so they couldn't even plug it in. After numerous failed attempts at contacting this inept project manager as well as trying to contact Mr Culver himself they finally respond after 3 weeks to let me know that the lighting crew will be back out to fix the lighting. This time they fabricate a 4 inch long extension cord which for one completely negates the point of the weather protection cover of the outlet because one end of the extension cord is exposed to the elements and 2 they don't even know how to build the cable properly because both ends of the cord had exposed wiring. I immediately removed the cord before it could get shorted out by the rain that day and start my house on fire. They finally came and replaced the box with the correct one and installed it close enough to be plugged into the outlet. They also glued down the capstones on the retaining wall which they also forgot to do. And then the next year as I'm remulching one of the rings around my tree I find out they didn't even bury the power line for the uplight they installed under the tree. I caught it with a rake. I had to dig it all out and bury it properly myself before I get electrocuted. I'm afraid of what else I might find now.
August 2011:
I finally receive the final bill.
Needless to say I would never use their landscaping service ever again and recommend to everyone I know to avoid them. They are very overpriced and not worth the incompetence. In hindsight I should of saw the red flags and I also should have gotten quotes from other landscape companies because since then I've talked to other landscapers who say I paid thousands more than I should have for the amount of work they did. I also cancelled my lawn service with them after the year was up, as it turns out they are also overpriced for what they are providing. I now get far better lawn service for less money from Aaron's Lawn and Landscape.

They are awesome. The lawn mowing is $33 per time and if you don't want them to come on a particular week, call them a couple of days ahead of time and they won't charge you which is so awesome. Their yard chemical service is $50 and they come out six times a year. They are caring about what they do and they do a really good job. The dandelions come out another time and they take care of them. They are really good at diagnosing. They are really expensive but you pay for what you get.

Very pleased with the work that they did for us. Completed everything we wanted done before the snow flew. All work and charges per the original estimate.
