Martinizing Dry Cleaning

When my husband took our comforter in for dry cleaning, he was told it would take 3 weeks. I still feel that is a very long time for anything dry cleaning related to take. My husband picked up the comforter (in it's plastic bag) and didn't open it. When I got home, I took the comforter out of the bag and was hit with a terrible, musty smell. It smelled as if the comforter had sat wet for the full three weeks we were without it. It looked wonderful, but the smell was unbearable and unacceptable for the price we paid - so bad, I would've preferred puppy urine. My husband took it back to Martinizing and explained the situation. They offered to fix it and told us we could pick it up in three days. When we got it back (once again, my husband did not open the bag at the store - lesson learned) the smell was gone, but the comforter was destroyed. There was a large hole in one corner where the stitching had come out and the batting was loose and hanging out of the corner. The entire thing was flattened - it had been a nice, expensive comforter that we had for only a few months and it still looked like new after we got it back with the musty smell. After they "fixed" the smell, it looked worn, like it was years old. The stitching was coming up all over the top of it. We were leaving for vacation and did not have time to take it back in before we left, and by the time we got back home we were so disgusted by the whole thing we didn't want to. The problems after the second cleaning (or whatever they did to fix the smell) were obvious, and should have been addressed with us by teh staff. The condition of the comforter before the second cleaning compared with after is something they should have taken immediate responsibility for, instead of sending it home with us to discover. Batting was falling out of a corner with a very 8" hole in it. The comforter is literally no longer worth dry cleaning, but for everything else we own that requires special care, we will not be returning to Martinizing.
