I had a hard time getting Matt Kaldenberg to call me back at the initial planting. Finally, I came home one day and it was planted. I never did receive a call back.
The tree died. These things happen. They had planted a tree in my front yard the year before that is still doing well, and I had purchased several hundred dollars of perennials from them, also. I will never purchase anything there again.
You must have the receipt to get the tree replaced under the one year warranty. I was VERY disappointed (I did some unnecessary yelling) that Matt had no record of planting the tree, and would not accept my credit card receipt and the fact that I provided Matt with a record of the "call before you dig" order the locators had recorded that he, himself, had placed with the utility locators on the date of my credit card receipt and for the specific location in my backyard. You MUST have the receipt to have the warranty honored. They had no record of planting the tree.
Matt did take the time to come to my home and inspect the dead tree. I had stated that they had spaded the tree into place, and evidently I was wrong. (it must of been hand dug in). This led Matt to believe that I was being dishonest, had moved a dead tree to the spot, and was trying to get a free tree out of him. He wrote a two page letter explaining why he thought I was being dishonest. I was not being dishonest, and if they had decent record keeping, they would have known this to be true.
All I wanted was the dead tree replaced under warranty, but I did not have the actual receipt; I only had the credit card receipt and a record that he had called in the utility location service for the same date and for the same location in my yard. I, admittedly, responded poorly by doing a lot of yelling at Matt as a result.
I will not use Kaldenberg PBS Landscaping again.

Cleanup went fine. Spent an hour discussing flowers/colors at his place of business. His truck and crew came to my house to plant annuals and they were the wrong colors. I had an appointment in the morning and they called and said they would be delayed. They finished that job and had to go back to the nursery to pick up my order. Apparently they had a wrong mumber for me and they arrived that afternoon around 3. I knew there was too much to finish before 5.00. I didn't want the flowers as they were the wrong colors. Was told that they would call when they got back to the landscape office. Never heard from them again. Called about 4 days later and canceled the order. Pity, I figured it was going to be a 5K order.

I decided I needed to sod my front yard prior to putting my house on the market as I had too many places I had been patching for years and I wanted a lush look. They had to work it in around our extremely rainy spring weather, but they came early on one of our rare dry days, removed all the old grass and put in the new sod in one day. Then the clouds opened up again and I was able to take advantage of free watering for a couple of weeks. Matt gave me a very good price, even offered to work around the areas that were still growing well, though that would have made it more difficult for him. The lawn is beautiful and we have had many compliments on it from the neighbors. After I listed my house I realized I needed a load of river rock to finish a walkway project and to fill in some bare spots in the backyard, so I shot off an email to Matt Kaldenberg telling him I needed rock asap; here it was Friday, pictures of the house were to be taken Monday, I needed the weekend to spread it, and could he possibly get me the rock today? Within fifteen minutes his smiling driver was dumping $250 worth of rock in my driveway! Great service! Whenever I need advice (how much to water, how soon to mow, what fertilizer to use and when) I just send an email to Matt and he answers the same day.

I have a backyard full of trees that lets very little sunlight in and grass is hard to grow, but weeds always find a way. I was getting ready to sell my house and I could not afford landscaping. My backyard looks like a forest, so Matt Kaldenberg suggested several inches of mulch would look very natural and solve my problem; I would not have thought of that. The cost would be $1200 for mulch and another $900 for his men to spread it, too much for me, but he was willing to work within my budget and agreed he would drop off a load of mulch, we would spread it, and let him know when we were ready for more. We simply emailed him and mulch would be dropped off in the driveway the next day. He even gave me a break on the price because we were not too far away.
