We received a coupon in the mail advertising a discount on an oil change so my wife made an appointment at the Cedar Rapids shop at 2160 Edgewood Rd NW in Cedar Rapids, IA and took our car in for the oil change. While the oil was being changed they did a series of "tests" that they say indicated the fuel injectors needed cleaning and transmission fluid needed changing. The "technician" showed my wife the results of these "tests" ("swab test showed soot" for injectors and "color" of transmission fluid) and strongly recommended the repairs be performed. Although the car was running fine and the automobile's on-board diagnostic system did not indicate any problems My wife was overwhelmed by the technician's dire warnings and succumbed and had Tuffy's perform "their" recommended repairs and services. The result: we took the car in for a $29.00 oil change and paid $350.00 for unnecessary work.

Appointment took 2 hours more than I was told. After two attempts at the oil change (the filter blew on the first, it happens) it was finally done, so I thought. Whoever put the tires back on the vehicle didn't powerlock the lug nuts leaving the wheels insecure and loose. The loose nuts were sheered off while driving 70mph later that evening due to the loose nuts and caused a bunch of damage to the tune of $350 at my other, much more trusted mechanic (who is also now my oil change guy). My husband went back to Tuffy after the ordeal and told them what happened. The young man behind the check-in area said, "Oh... well....we sure won't do THAT again!" Gee, thanks? He just chuckled and left. We have not been back since and do not plan on going back.
