My 82 year old mother did not need a brake job and the rotors were replaced without her being contacted regarding the additional cost of those rotors. Further, they did an air-conditioning leak test and charged her for dye and for freon although they did not find a leak therefore no freon should have been needed. The brake job was the first one ever done on her 2012 Camry, which is only driven in town and has under 25,000 miles on it. She does not speed nor does she ride the brakes excessively and at best the pads should have been installed and the rotors turned since it was her first brake job on this car. Also they only did her rear brakes (thank god) which tend to wear out long after the front brakes so this was additionally a bit fishy. Two years ago I had them change my oil and rotate my tires prior to going on a cross country trip. I got about 40 miles from town and my car started shaking violently so I pulled over on the interstate to find that all of my lug nuts were loose. I was able to tighten them enough to get into a nearby town where they were tightened with an air wrench and luckily none of the bolts on the hub were damaged. When I returned to Iowa City I had them double check the lugs at their request and they were of course very apologetic for the incompetent act which could have ended up very badly for me and the family members who were also in my vehicle. At that time I also had them take a look at my radiator because on the trip I lost a little bit of fluid. I had asked them to do this prior to leaving and they'd said there was no visible problem. This time they told me they pulled off the shroud and were recommending that I replace the radiator because they found a small leak. I did at a cost of $1,200. The day after picking it up there was radiator fluid all over the ground near my vehicle at work and it was because the lower radiator hose clamp was never put back on. I took it in and they aplogized, replaced the clamp and then filled the radiator back up. That very night my radiator leaked again, this time time because the upper radiator hose clamp was not properly installed and it was tightened but not over the flange so it was not serving any purpose. I believe doing grossly incompetent work for me and ripping off my elderly mother make this business one that you should stay away from at all costs. I would recommend Linder Tire for all your brake and tire needs.
Description of Work: I had Iowa City Tire rotate my tires and replace a radiator and my mother took her car in for an oil change and ended up with a $650 dollar brake job and air conditioning service.

Very smooth experience. Friendly, courteous staff of managers AND technicians. Bought a set of tires over the counter, no discount, but the manager discounted them for me anyways. All services performed in about an hour. Had them fill with nitrogen at no extra charge. Best part about this company is they will ALWAYS top up your nitro free of charge, and take a look at your alignment for free, giving out a printout so you can see where you're regarding tire wear and alignment 'trueness'. Highly recommended. Locally owned company. They even handle the free nitro quickly and courteously, unlike some other companies that might offer a loss leader then be kind of snarky about when you ask them to do the work.
Description of Work: Installed new tires, checked and fixed alignment.

Iowa Tire is very easy to work with. Usually they can perform work the next day and will schedule a time to your convenience. They've always been punctual about performing work at the set time. Very professional. Costs have always been reasonable, neither exceptionally low or high. When buying tires they always provide options at different price points. They take a vehicle-centered approach, doing only the work that's needed/appropriate--I've never felt like I'm "sold" something I don't need/want. Very good with communication. They explain what needs to be done and why; are always willing to discuss concerns, preferences and offer suggestions when asked. They've gotten to know both me and our cars and I've come to trust their judgment as to whether specific needs to be done now, can be deferred until later, which tires will work best, etc. Very accommodating.
Description of Work: Mostly recently we had 4 new tires replaced on our 2005 Toyota Camry XLE. We've used Iowa City Tire exclusively for all routine service, repair, tire service on our 3 cars (Camry, Civic, Sienna) since 2007. Our recommendation takes into accounts perhaps 20 visits, largely for routine service but including 2.5 sets of tires.
