I first saw the leak coming out of my ceiling air register during a violent rainstorm. My brother had used Hedrick for roof repairs of his own and had a good experience and told me to give him a try. I also called another contractor, but he did not respond. Shawn came out and inspected the situation and told me the box vents were likely leaking during heavy rain causing water to travel down the vent in my attic and out through the vent in the bedroom.
He told me my options were to repair the area around the box vent or replace all the vents with a ridge vent. We opted to go with the cheaper option and repair the vent.
A year later during a severe thunderstorm the same leak happened again. I called Hedrick again and we agreed to replace the box vents this time. We understood at the time of the first repair that it may be a permanent solution because we live in an area with very high wind that were not conducive to the use of box vents.
The work to replace the box vents with a ridge vent went quickly. All workers were professional, on time, and there wasn't even a sign that they had been here after they left they had cleaned up so well. Communication throughout the process was prompt and professional.
Two years later, the ridge vent is still working properly and I have had no further issues with roof leaks during storms.

Shawn Hendrick was very quick to respond and a good communicator.
Because of other work, his team was not able to get to the house a few weeks later, which was fine.
The first time through, Hendrick construction nailed about 80% of the problem, so the amount of water entering the house was greatly reduced, but we still had some coming through.
After a phone call and conducting a test, we located the spot where the final drops of water were coming through. A few weeks later, a team member from Hendrick showed up and reapplied tape to the small section that was leaking.
We conducted the test again and there were no leaks. We were very happy with the outcome and even the minor glitch wasn't too a big issue since Shawn responded so quickly and positively.

The roof that they replaced leaked for three years and finally, the ceiling in the family room collapsed. Therefore, I had them bring somebody in to replace the ceiling and then they billed me for replacing the ceiling. I told Shawn why would I pay you for something that your people destroyed? That doesn't make sense. He said well, we will just put a Lien on your house. So, I took him to small claims court and he ended up paying the court cost and the guy that replaced the ceiling. I would not use him ever and I would never recommend him.

We received 3 different estimates from other contractors and while they were all about the same in price, Shawn was the most professional and thorough when coming out to look at the roof. He spent almost an hour looking over the roof, taking notes, and speaking with me. It was nice that he wasn't in a hurry to leave and was able to answer my questions and concerns and knew exactly what needed to be done.
When the crew came out to remove the old roof and put the new one on, they got right down to business and made sure to cover the windows and remove all the furniture from my deck. The most impressive part was that they were all done in one day and did a quality job. The new roof makes the house look so much better. There were 3 layers of shingles on my roof and the original ones were still on the bottom! That was from the previous owners being careless and cheap. So, after 75 years, I got stuck with having to pay to replace the neglected roof. If you want a company that is fair in price with excellent knowledge in construction, call Hedrick and they will get it done!

Everything went well, they did a good job, and we are satisfied.

hsShawn is a good salesman. Like many, though, after the sale he is 'iffy' to get a hold of, and the work is sub-contracted (painters/stainers/installers).
My biggest gripe is the time factor for this kind of a project. It began late in the indian summer days, and wasn't done for several weeks. The quality and operation of the new windows has not impressive to me, but I'm not that familiar with vinyl windows, so I'm willing to let that go.
What DOES irritate me is that one of the screens was damaged severely enough that I don't know why it was even installed. That wasn't bad enough: to get a replacement screen took at least three months. Why in the world would that be?? And then on top of that, the replacement screen was simply dropped off, leaned against the house, for us to figure out how to install.
We have new project in store. We will not be using Hedricks. Trust me.

They came out and had it done in no time at all. They cleaned up, came back, and followed up on all the little things that they had to do.

We had some previous experience with Hedrick. Several months ago we called him about a leak. Shawn Hedrick came to the house
the next day, and immediately diagnosed the problem as torn flashing around a vent pipe. No more than 10 minutes later, his workers pulled up to our house to fix it (just before the rain started to fall). This was amazingly fast service, and it saved us from further water damage.
In addition to our previous favorable experience, we had other reasons for hiring Hedrick. After providing us with his written estimate, he came to our home and explained it to us personally. He seemed (and we still believe him to be) very honest and reputable. His reference list of previous customers included several of our colleagues at the university (who confirmed their high opinion of the company’s work). Hedrick’s estimate was comparable in cost to an estimate from DeWild and cheaper than that from Leafguard.
We signed the contract in September, but work did not begin until November. Once the workman showed up they worked efficiently and finished the roofing job within two days. We were called before they started so that we could move cars out of the garage (to allow materials and equipment to be set up in the driveway). The roofing was finished on a Friday. Installation of new gutters did not begin until Monday so we were gutterless over the weekend. Gutter installation also took two days.
The finished roof and guttters look very nice. Clean-up was thorough. The roofers seemed to take extra care in repairing water damaged areas.
We were completely satisfied until we noticed two problems, and then came to realize that Hedrick had not performed an overall inspection of the work to see if things had been properly done. A piece of gutter topper had not been installed, leaving a 2 to 3 foot gap. After complaining, we were later informed that the workers were aware of this and had run out of materials. We had expected someone to come back to complete the installation, but apparently someone dropped the ball. Another problem was an area of the garage roof where the vinyl siding had been damaged while replacing some timber and there was exposed wood.
In spite of these things needing attention before the work was satisfactorily completed, a bill was sent for the total job. While our calls were promptly returned when scheduling the estimate, response was much slower after the work was “done.” After many attempts to contact them, our call was finally returned and Shawn came to inspect the work. He then called to say that these things would be taken care of within a week. It was in fact two weeks before these were attended to.
In the end, both problems were resolved, and I think we received a good quality roof. The problematic section of siding was not just bent back into shape, but replaced entirely with new material (and a worker came to the house twice to fit and match it). Nevertheless, had the missing gutter topper and the siding problem been in locations not easily observed by us, we suspect that these problems might never have been noticed or repaired. The lack of quality control and final inspection to see that the work had been properly done is a serious concern. We would strongly advise homeowners to require a final inspection by Shawn (or someone other than the work crew) to make sure that work is properly completed.

everything was handled fairly and professionally.

We contacted (4) different roofers (via suggestions on Angies list). Shawn Hedrick did not come in the cheapest, then again he was not the most expensive either ...... actually he was pretty much right in the middle. Of all the (4) that we did contact for estimates, (and I want to stress they are posted here with highest ratings on Angies List), Shawn Hedrick was the only one that actually went up on my roof an measured, as well as sat down with my wife for about an hour on a Saturday morning to discuss all options, colors, etc. I also like the fact that Shawn had a print-out of all the roofs within our area and surrounding area's breaking them down by address, customer name, and color and type of shingle .... which made it very nice to drive around and look at homes with the various colors within his brochure. I also want to mention that Shawn was gracious enough to take 3-4 follow-up phone calls from me asking what I'm sure he considered Frivolous questions .... but he never led on that way, and treated all questions with the utmost respect.
As for the actual job ........ I couldn't say more about the crew Shawn employs, and the quality of the work they did. I received a phone call a couple of days before from Henry (the site forman) letting me know when they were going to start (weather providing), and sure enough they were there just as they said. Being I have a rather large house, with about four different levels to the roof I thought for sure they would be there a couple of days, but as I returned home from work, not only was the job complete but I couldn't hardly tell they were ever there, other than a little grass laying over where they had walked.
Kuddo's to Shawn Hedrick, Henry, and all of the crew ...... I most definitely hire Hedrick's again, and would suggest you look real hard yourself at them ...... As I found out "You get what you pay for", and I'm certainly glad we chose them.
Hire them ....... you won't be disappointed !!!

The roof was done professionally in one day with another day for gutters.

Start - Shawn Hedrick was personable and friendly at first . But was the opposite when we were trying to get the siding repaired.
