After many calls and no responses, Andy showed up at our house, stating that he had stopped many times and no one was home which could be beings we both work full time.
He said there was a spot the siliconed and should not be leaking. And I told him it was and wanted to show him where it was leaking, but he was not interested in that.
So after many rains and the wall began to show major damage, and many more unanswered phone calls we decided to contact our Lawyer to seek legal action.
Well that at least we finally got a response. Our Lawyer said he the bricks where deteriorating and flashing was not able to seal properly so water would run down chimney. My problem was that was the first I had heard him say that, all i knew was he told me it was siliconed and sealed and no visible leaks. So we had a brick layer come in and inspect bricks, he said they where bad but not horrible but were only gonna get worse.
We where quoted $500-$600 to remove chimney, but decided to get a second opinion from another roofer.
After a roofer my wife was referred to came and inspected it, and said the flashing was done properly and was directing water towards chimney, and wasn't sealed very good at base, he could see where they siliconed it heavily.
So $300 dollars later, he reflashed it and pulled shingles and resealed at base of chimney.
That was done in January and hasn't leaked one drop since.
Basically I'm not here to bash Spring Valley, but we were blown off on several occasions and they were very unprofessional to us on the matter.
All we wanted was a sealed chimney, which we ended up having to go elsewhere to get done. Overall the roof was good but the part with chimney left a bad taste in our mouth, so In our case we would recommend somebody other than Spring Valley.
They gave me a solid estimate with three possible options.
The work got done in a timely manner.
Very professional.
My only concern was that my roof was not covered with tarps when the crew left for the day - even though it was raining. The tear off (in that section of the roof) had been completed and new tar paper installed - but only part of the shingles. As the rain got heavier that night some leaks developed and I had to get on the roof put down some tarps. To be fair I must say that the spots that leaked were in areas where I had experienced some leaks in the past and the rain was VERY heavy so I do not totally fault the crew - but I wish they had made some attempt to cover up those areas.
The cleanup after the job was complete was excellent. In the months since the job was completed I have found no nails in the yard and only one small piece of old shingle. The owner of the company even came back a couple days later to fill, and re-seed, some ruts left in the lawn by the trailer used to haul off the old shingles. Today I can't even tell where those ruts were.
Shortly after the job was finished we had several heavy rainstorms and the two areas of my roof which had leaked before the new shingles were installed showed no signs of leaking (and I checked very carefully).
Overall I am very satisfied. I highly recommend Spring Valley Roofing..
On a side note, one of his competitors came back after I informed him he did not get the bid and said I will beat his price by $500! I told him to go away, because his bid was substantially higher originally, He was just going screw me out of my money if he could get away with it! I told him you should have given me a fair and honest bid!
I was totally disgusted!!
Thank you Spring Valley Roofing! Do not hesitate to to have them take care of you!!!!
