Do not complain if mushrooms growing inside window or cabinets anchored in wrong rooms or 9 ft ceilings become 7 ft or coat closet door slams hands when reaching for coat or cooktop vent venting inside house or cooktop hood off balance or........because contractor will say you are just to picky..

Davis came out and fixed the issue with the roof all in a few hours.

Ryan arrived as stated to review the job and provide a quote. He emailed the quote within 2 days. The quote was online with other quotes I obtained. He responded to any emails I sent that same evening. He and his crew were professional in all aspected of their job. They arrived on time each day of the job. They used full sheets of plywood to protect the siding of my house and the neighbors when they tore off the old shingles. The cleaned up each night and left no debris after each of the 3 days of work. The roof was removed and tar paper put on day 1, reshingled on day 2 and the porch was fixed on day 3. I highly recommend David Construction and will use them again in the future.

This part of the work went fine. They showed up when they said they would, did all the necessary work and left. However, I really wont be able to grade the work until there's a wind storm coming out of the northwest...if there are no shingles on the ground after that I'll know they did a good job.

Fantastic! They fixed the leak and no leaks since. They were careful enough in removing my shingles, so that I did not have to purchase new ones. Very professional and knowledgeable. They were available within a few days to schedule the work. I felt confident that they were going to do the job right. I would definitely recommend Davis Construction!!! Note: Two other roofers prior to him failed to stop the leak, overcharged me, did not give me my money back nor guaranteed their work.

I selected Davis construction as one of the construction contractors we were considering to replace and build onto our existing deck. They really stood out a a great company on Angies list when I saw they were both licensees and bonded. To me any company that is licensed and bonded gives the home owner reassurance that they are competent, careful, and reliable. Davis Construction showed they were that and more!
Ryan Davis came by to give me an estimate on our deck and he was very courteous, knowledgeable, and on-time. Out of all the contractors we looked at Ryan impressed us the most not only by his demeanor but also by the quote he provided. We already had an existing drawing that we worked on through a free on-line deck planner, so I had already done the math on the material cost and what I estimated for labor. Ryan came in right on the mark! It showed me that Davis Construction really knows their stuff and that sealed the deal. (Way better than other contractors who did some rough math on the spot and came in overpriced, Ryan did his homework after our meeting and emailed me the quote with a day or two.)
Ryan got us on their work list and communicated with me the whole way through the process. Things like a call a few days before hand to let me know what their start date would be, getting permits, what to expect with demolition, haul away, and material delivery to my house. I also liked how Davis Construction handles their jobs. When they show up, they are all in until the job is done. They completed everything from demolition, to the final handrails and gates in just under 4 days!
All of the workers that I saw were very professional and arrived on-time everyday with their foreman (I believe his name was Jim). The foreman was happy to talk with me before I left for work on what they planned to accomplish each day, asked me questions if they were unsure how I wanted something done, and even provided several suggestions that we hadn't considered (such as weed barrier and how to stagger deck boards). I let them figure our how to make the deck boards look good and they look great!
The other thing I liked was that they really worked with us to make sure we got what we wanted. One example was how the railings should look, and the fact that I called Ryan during construction to add in a set of swinging/latching gates to each of the steps so we could keep out dog out on the deck with us. These things didn't take much time to discuss and really added a lot to our satisfaction of the end product.
I have also had them replace some damaged siding for me and they matched it up very well, I can't notice a difference. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to call Davis Construction again for my next project!

They did a really good job but they were very difficult to deal with. They were not on time but they did an excellent job on the roof. We had to have two porches rebuilt and they did not come when they were supposed to come but they did an excellent job on that too. They just came and did it. They did not converse or do anything. The only things that they really did was that they gave me the samples for the roof.

WORKERS WERE VERY GOOD AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB.

They were very busy last year and indicated that it would be some time before they could do the work. Ryan is upfront about the timeframe and called twice to let me know how they were coming. The crew they had did a great job, it was a challenging roof that several contractors would not even bid. They have multiple crew for projects, one to tear off the roof, one to shingle and another to install gutters. Because of the different crews it is important to talk to the new crew to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Example is down spout placement - they did not take the old ones off. Overall I was very happy with Davis Construction and will certainly call them in the future.

When I left a message for Davis construction last week Ryan Davis was very prompt at calling me back. He said he would come by early the next morn to take a look at what we needed and would be able to provide a quote. Just as he said, he stopped by the very next morn and provided a quote explaining what he needed in the way of materials and what it would all cost to make the repairs and when he would be able to do the repairs. Our job was not a very big one, but one that was important to our home. Per his quote and agreement to do the job Ryan showed up exactly as promised and did what was needed. He was very efficient and detailed and cleaned up immediately upon completing the repairs. I was very impressed with his commitment to keeping his word on when he would do the job, past experience with others has made me skeptical. I would have no problem highly recommending Davis construction to others. One big point is that Davis construction has been in Dubuque a long time and they live in the community so take a great deal of pride in the job they do and the reputation they keep.

These guys were absolutely fantastic. Showed up on the start day as promised. Worked hard everyday they were here. Joe(the foreman) was able to answer any question I had. Even taught me things I did not know. The whole crew could not have been more polite. My wife is in a wheelchair, and if we had to leave, they made sure the path to the car was clear for her. Great group of young men. Every day they cleaned up all around the house thoughroughly. Joe asked me what I thought of things near the end of each day, and explained to me what he would do next. My wife and I could not be more pleased withed the finished result. I guess you would not understand unless you saw a before and after picture of the job. If anyone should seek my advice on a construction company, it will be Davis Construction...Hands Down!!! Someday I want a steel roof installed, and I will not need 3 estimates, I have already made my choice. Mr.Ryan Davis should be very proud of the crew he has employed. You all have made my wife so happy, and me too!! Thanks Guys!

They were superb. They were very thorough. Ryan was true to his word, and stuck to his timeline and estimate (he was actually cheaper than what he had quoted). I would highly recommend him.

The crew did an excellent installation job. They also did an excellent job cleaning up.

Their follow up was horrible. They did an excellent job on the roof, but I asked them to put soffits, gutters, fascia and other stuff on. They came back and did that two days before Christmas in a blizzard. The roof was covered with ice and they were up there on scaffolds. It was like a joke. It seems he just wanted to get the job done. The fascia he put is just waffled, dimpled, and wavy. It is not the way it is supposed to be. They showed up with the wrong color gutters but I said to go ahead and put it on anyway. I specifically had told them that I wanted it done when the temperature was 50 degrees or more so they could put the spray foam sealing underneath the cracks so that the wasps did not get in there. It is pretty hard to do that in a blizzard. It is hard to say if I will use them again. They did an awesome job on the roof but a terrible job on the gutters, soffits, fascia and diverter. The young man who did the roofing job did an excellent job. The management which made the decisions and the follow up did not do well. I had to call them for almost six months to get them here and make the guy accept that it was his fault that the diverter was not right. That diverter was faulted and resulted in a leak. I had these huge storage containers under the roof and they were full of water. It was a disaster. They did not caulk it enough. It was a strange experience. My grades are for the roof work only. I paid $7800 for the roof work and the other $2200 was for the other work.

They followed through on all things they promised to do and didn't damage our new landscaping. They did a good job, overall. I would use them again.
