I had to have my water service line replaced because it was blocked. Torgerson Excavating was able to come to my house and install a new water service line ( which was a challenge because of my terrain) in one day. I was nervous because my house is 90+ years old, but these guys are professionals and definitely know what they're doing. I would recommend these guys to anyone needing this type of work - and so would other plumbers I spoke to. *Please note that the cost of the repair was $0.00 because I had purchased the water line service coverage offered through the local water provider. Regardless of that, I would still highly recommend this company.

Torgerson and Greenwood were both unsure where the damaged pipe was, so it wasn't possible to get an estimate. They decided to dig up one section of the pipe where the clog seemed to be located. It took a couple hours to actually find the problem area because my sewer line took a weird turn. Once the problem was located, the repair was made very quickly. They had the city inspector come out the same day. The repair was made, the hole was filled back in and a week later the concrete was replaced. The whole job probably took eight hours total (5-6 to dig, repair and re-fill, and 1-2 to replace the concrete).
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the work Torgerson performed, and will use them again in the future if necessary. The price was much lower than I was expecting.
My only minor complaint is that the owner, Todd, wouldn't provide me with an estimate even after the problem was found. I asked twice and he and his guys joked that it'd be really expensive. Later, he said, 'as far as an estimate goes...I don't know,' and kind of left it at that. But in the end, the price was right so all is good.
Todd told me that his company has large contracts with the City of Des Moines and Des Moines Water Works, so they are obviously reputable. If you have to do any sort of excavation work, call Torgerson first.

These guys had a great price and very personable while on the job. There work was perfect and almost too nice to cover up. If anyone needs septic work I highly recommend Craig and Todd. There is a big difference between installers.

After two sewage backups in our basement within four months of each other (in a house less than 12 years old), we took our sewer service tech's advice and had the line excavated in the problem area indicated in the tech's video. Sure enough, there was an actual gap of 8-10 inches between our sewer line and the pipe leading to the main. Todd suspected that this actually occurred during construction of the house, and it just took this long for the problem to reveal itself. He, his brother Craig, and their assistant Kenny spent an entire day getting to and repairing this problem and then followed up on another suspected break, which they found farther up the line. They replaced that area of pipe also and then filled in the hole properly with rock (which was never done in the original construction) and dirt and poured concrete to replace the sidewalk and driveway sections that had been removed. Todd patiently answered my many questions and never was condescending, as some repairmen are with women. He was a stickler for detail, ensuring that the work at every stage of the repair was done meticulously and correctly. There were no surprises when the bill arrived, either, as it was exactly the amount quoted to me beforehand. I hope we never have a need for sewer excavation again, but if we do I will call Torgerson Excavating without hesitation. We cannot say enough good things about this company.
