I would highly recommend Salon Utopia. Jami did a fantastic job and I will definitely go back.

I had a shampoo, cut, dry, and style. The stylist was very professional, kind, and skilled.

My daughter and I both had our hair cut and eyebrows waxed. We have very different hair, mine is stick straight and thin, she has wavy and fairly thick hair. We were asked about hair type when we called and had appointments made with the stylist that seemed would work best with our hair types. We both also needed bad haircuts fixed. Both of our stylist did excellent jobs. They consulted with us when we got there and communicated with us throughout the appointments. The salon is clean and tidy, the staff is super friendly and professional. We will definitely be back!

Jami does fabulous color! I was leery of going to someone new but just moved nearby and wanted to try some place closer. I am very particular and have A LOT of hair. She did a great job, it was reasonably priced and she didn't yank my hair out when combing it out. I was very happy and will be back!

I've been going to Jami at Salon Utopia for three years. She does an excellent job with both cut and color. The salon is small, but very personable and all the staff is very attentive. They offer complementary Gong F* tea at the beginning of your appointment, and a custom made chocolate at the end. They recently implemented an online booking system, which makes booking or rescheduling your appointments much easier. I highly recommend Salon Utopia.

The salon is located in what looks like a house that has been converted to a business. There is plenty of parking in front. Once inside, the decor is very attractive with the walls painted a light sage green. There are two main rooms: the reception area and the salon area. My stylist, Maya, offered me a choice of teas from Gong Fu (they have a shop in East Village). There were many different varieties available, and I chose one after looking at their tea menu. She made the tea at that time (any of their teas are served cold or hot, according to your preference). After having my highlights touched up, Maya washed my hair and gave me a wonderful, relaxing scalp massage. While she was washing and conditioning my hair, she took the time to explain the kinds of products she was using. We then went to her station and she then discussed with me what kind of cut would work best for my face shape and hair. She blew my hair dry, explaining how to manipulate my hair to give it maximum hold while doing so. She then styled my hair according to my request. After she was done cutting my hair, she walked me out to the reception area and pointed out the products she thought would work well with my hair type without making me feel pressured to buy any of the products. They only sell one line of hair products. Because of this, you know the stylists know the line and what will work well for you. Other salons can have an overwhelming inventory of products and it can be hard to choose one that's right for you, not to mention the fact that the stylist might not know the products very well. Since Salon Utopia only carries one line, that is not an issue. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Salon Utopia and I will definitely continue going there.
