This winter in Iowa was brutally cold, And our "new to us" 1950's ranch was very well built. . . except for the ice that formed on the inside of the North exterior wall in our bedrooms. Apparently our home had little/no insulation in the exterior walls. We set up a Mid American Home Energy audit so that we could qualify for the home energy rebates for insulating our home. Then we obtained bids from 3 different companies. Rich's bid was competitive with the lowest bid, but what set him apart was the time he spent explaining to us what he would do, and in a particularly difficult section of wall, Rich found a very creative solution to insulate it but keep the architectural features intact. This was far and away the best answer we received, compared with the lowest bid contractor who just shrugged his shoulders and said he would skip insulating that section of wall. We were paying for insulation, not for a gaping hole. If the contractor skips insulating a difficult section of wall, what other work are the skipping? So Rich won out on attention to detail and pricing. He was flexible with our work schedules, showed up on time or 5 minutes early each day, and finished 10 minutes ahead of schedule. I could physically feel the temperature difference when he had finished, and had to immediately turn my thermostat down 4 degrees. When I put my hands on my daughters' bedroom wall, they were no longer ice cold, but comparable with the temperature of the home. No more space heater needed. Rich also stayed true to his bid, no over pricing or adding on last minute charges. And he cleaned up after himself. There was very little dust left behind. Not only would I recommend him for home insulation, I would recommend him for any general home contracting needs, as he has extensive experience in all areas of home construction. Rich Quigley Construction was a great find. The quality of his work speaks for itself.
