Welcome to Iowa Home Restoration and Repair, LLC! *Now after working 4 years in Home Inspections with another company I am now adding this service to my business. I have inspected over 1500 homes in that time. With over 10 years of experience; We will offer; Owner supervision on all work, step by step systems of reporting to ensure you are happy with the work from start to finish, very competitive pricing, and experience in working with insurance companies. When you are investing in your home, your complete satisfaction is our number one goal. We specialize in foundation repair, waterproofing, mold remediation, mold inspections, and water damage. With mold, it represents a potentially significant health hazard for building occupants and a substantial liability for property owners. We offer professional mold remediation following all EPA and OSHA guidelines as well as industry certification protocols. We do an in-depth cleaning and disinfection of the affected areas, proper disposal of contaminated materials. Waterproofing: In my past I have built insulated concrete foundations and understand how water should be managed under the floor of a basement. I have taken that knowledge and applied it to existing basements. If you are going to the trouble of removing a basement floor the only real fix is to install a tiling system that is placed along side of the footing and not on top. Once water reaches the top of the footing you are just inches away of the water getting to the finished floor surface. With my past experiences I have added Home Inspections to my services. Even though this is a new service I offer, I have over 2800 inspections completed here in the Central Iowa area. I work with another inspector that has years of experience and as a team we identify more items as well as items for maintenance. We are able to complete most inspections in an hour to an hour and a half. Inspect reports are emailed to you on the next morning. I asked about other testing and he said they do provide it at extra cost, but did not see any reason for doing and further testing. I really appreciated this as especially since I was asking about it...he could have very easily said "sure" and sold us a few hundred dollars of testing we did not need and that would really give us no further information. I am very pleased with Gene and feel like he is a VERY honest businessman.
The leak had caused the sub-flooring in the affected room to rot and disintegrate. It was also discovered after pulling up the carpet that the builder had used a sub-standard sub-flooring material (MDF) in the entire basement. We decided it was best to completely replace it all since there were other affected areas of rotted sub-flooring in the basement.
I later added a long list of other repairs to the contract to replace screen doors and a few other things around the house and garage.
Gene Maire was great to work with and was patient with all the additional things I added to the list of repairs in my home. The work was complete way before my expectations, 2 months from first estimate, and was of good quality. They left the site clean. Each time I added something new to the repair list, he was very prompt with sending a revised and reasonable estimate for the work.
I would highly recommend Iowa Home Restoration and Repair, Gene and his crew to anyone needing any kind of repairs on their home but especially if you have a basement water proofing issue in your home. Gene was honest in his assessment of the problems, kept me up to date and sent pictures of newly found issues. He was professional to work with. He instilled a sense of trust when I first met with him which is why I chose his company over a cheaper competitor.
It went great! Over the past winter, we discovered mold growing in our attic. We determined the mold was caused by moisture getting into our attic, and then condensing on the cold northern slope of our roof. We wanted to ensure that the mold growing in the attic had not found its way into our bedrooms.
We found the company through Angie's list, made contact with the company, and Gene contacted me. I explained our situation, and he explained the services he would provide as well as the cost. We scheduled the appointment for a Saturday afternoon. Gene was prompt and professional upon arrival.
He set up his equipment, and ran the air sample. He documented the process with his camera, making note of the time and sample numbers etc. The test lasted 10 min. He then went outside and performed the same test/process to establish a control sample, in order to compare the air in the house with the air outside of the house. While I do understand the importance of this process, it does double the cost ($100 for each sample). Gene did let me know all of this before agreeing to provide the testing.
He called as soon as he had the results back from the lab to explain the results, and also e-mailed me the results from the lab detailing the test results.
We were extremely satisfied with the test, and it was worth the piece of mind knowing that we would not need to perform further mold remediation.
I would recommend these services to anyone looking for the same testing.
