Floyd said it'd be a 2-week project, but he had 3 weeks scheduled just in case something came up. He was supposed to be finished in September, but didn't show up until the following May. It took 11 weeks to complete from the day he started to the day he came back to clean up. He (his workers) never worked an 8-hour day at my house. No work was done for at least a 3-week period in the middle. He blamed most of the delays on either his broken saw or the city inspector. In the end, the vertical joints are inconsistent, there is excess mortar on the block faces, the horizontal joints are off by half a block at the corner (because I didn't tell him to align them), the little bit of brick re-work on the exterior is crooked and out of plane. He replaced the old bricks with new brick that does not match at all. There are mortar spills in my driveway, my garage floor, and on my retaining wall. The old wall did not have a footing so he had to put in a new one. The top of the footing should be below the floor slab. Instead, he made the footing level with the floor and did not bother to finish the top of the footing. He used cement patch to smooth the top of the footing, but the floor slab cannot be replaced without removing part of the footing.

This process took around 4-5 days because of rainy weather. When he was finished laying the bricks it looked horrible. The work he did was absolutely unacceptable. I sent him a letter to tell him I did not want him to do the work anymore and wanted a refund. I only paid $500 for the deposit. He never responded to my letter and I had someone else come out and completely redo the work. I have photos on file for how bad it looked.
