I want to preface this with when we initially purchased our fire place insert, the owner and employees were friendly and professional. Installation was quick and the installers made sure we knew the best practices when lighting and maintaining a fire. The reason I am writing this review with one star is that we asked to have a screen put on the top of the chimney. We were talked out of doing that because they preferred not having it there. The reason I wanted the screen was to prevent birds etc from moving into the flue. Opening the fireplace door this year I found two dead birds. After trying to start the fire, my living room quickly filled with smoke. After calling this company, they wouldn't come out to fix this for over four weeks. During the coldest part of the season thus far, they refused to come and fix a problem that was created due to their bad advice. Any future fireplace business will be given to another company.

They did a very good job and took care of everything so that there is no mess when they clean the chimney.

They are great.

The service providers arrived on time and were very professional.  They took care to protect the floor while they were cleaning the chimney, and cleaned up when they were done.  I also asked their advice about replacing the fireplace insert since I was selling the house - the advice offered was thoughtful and geared toward my best interests, rather than just trying to sell me something.

These folks are professionals - from the nice person who answers the phone to the gentleman who did the repair work at my home. I will definitely use them again should the need arise.

This company provided excellent quality and information.  Everything we were told (such as the drawbacks of a ventless fireplace) tallied with information we had found on-line and helped us make a choice for standard vented insert.
They had a good choice of styles and we got a really good price since it was out of season.
 Chim Cherie House of Fireplaces did not do the re-tile work necessary on the front of the fireplace but they did put is in contact with a reliable person for this work.
The whole experience was positive and I would recommend this company to anyone wanting a gas insert. Best, this is not  a chain but a locally owned company.

They were punctual, and performed excellent and nicely finished detailed work.  The estimate was fair and the we are very happy with the results.  Our wood burning insert is now nearly 5 years old and still works very well, we have it inspected annually and burn between 2-3 cords of wood to supplement our heating during the winter months.

It was a good experience. I would tell others that they would get good service.

Amazing from estimate to completion.  Sales staff & installer were polite, accommodating, honest, supportive.  Installer left house spotless.  Laid tarp over area.  Installer was pleasant even when faced with changes during installation.

I shopped around the Des Moines area for a gas insert for our existing fireplace to be the heat source for a family room addition to our home. The original prices I got for a high quality, efficient insert were comparable from different vendors. I was especially interested in Chim Cherie because it is a small local company where I felt we would be remembered and could count on good service down the road. 
Larry, the owner, offered to come to our home to look over the fireplace. He made excellent recommendations and, because my husband could bring an electric outlet to the firebox and help with installation, Larry reduced the cost of installation because he would only need to send one person and we would have some prep work done. He also suggested that my husband tile up to the insert, improving the finished appearance and eliminating the need for a metal sheath to cover the gap between firebox and insert. This further reduced our cost. He left my husband with all the details he would need to do his work ahead of time.
We scheduled an installation about a month out, but received a call that they would be able to come earlier since the installer was doing easier, quicker jobs on Saturdays. Thomas came and installed the unit. He was very professional and knowledgable and gave us very thorough instructions on operating the unit. He also gave us a DVD and owner's manual.
We love our insert and are spending so much time in the family room that we do not need to heat the rest of the house as much when we are not using that space. We purchased a unit with Green Smart technology, which includes a thermostat and maximizes the efficiency of the unit. 
We are very pleased with the quality of the product we purchased and with the personalized, professional service provided by Chim Cherie. We would definitely recommend them to others, especially those who wish to support a small business local economy.

Larry, the owner, did a great job of working with us to get the right fireplace. Thomas, the installer, did a great job of installing the fireplace. 

Great!  Mr. Thomas was on time and efficient.  He inspected the chimneys and explained the problem areas with the photos he took with his camera.  I will have owner to get us a bid for the repair work.

From meeting with company sales to installation was as promised - came & installed, cleaned up after installation, put tarp down during installation, respectful for our property. Very pleased!

The representative was prompt and thorough. I called them to inspect and clean and was happy that the chimney didn't require cleaning and that he was honest about it. I also like that the business is right in my neighborhood. The representative was patient and took the time to explain to me the different parts of the fireplace and chimney, and what work I may need to have done in the future (but that is not immediately pressing).

They were excellent. They were very knowledgeable and dependable. I gave them a B in price because of the time spent doing the work but I feel they me good quality at a fair price.
